But in practice it doesnt work like that, if the tickets are not selling then the price comes down, so it does benefit the non season ticket holders who go to most games.
But if the prices are high, lets say for the visit of Liverpool or Manchester City, then it alienates the loyal supporters who get hacked off when they see affluent families etc who can afford the ticket price but only want to attend these two games.
If everyone just walks away then the problem isnt solved, it fact it is escalated when the disenfranchised supporters stay away and the ground is half empty |

This seems to be the Northern Echo, who are based in Darlington a short distance from Middlesbrough, who seem to be basing it on a Sky Sports story from 2nd June.
Part of the article says
"The EFL can only take action against its member clubs but the FA will have looked at who participated, encouraged and, ultimately, was responsible for the spying missions", though they add that this 'could lead to charges and potential bans"
Ultimately the FA are caught in between a rock and a hard place, for most of it's member clubs spying is not an offence, Saints have been punished under EFL law and not FA law |

What I did say was that given the severity of the penalty we have been judged and sentenced in a short period of time and it seems expected to compose launch and have an appeal within 24 hours

The department responsible for analysing the opposition & games etc would not be under the jurisdiction of the club football manager.
It would be run by the head of that department, he supplies the data, I doubt that Tonda or any manager asks where it all comes from |

Saints Mark where I agree with you about the inflation figure, I am comparing the price of some things that relate to football have increased greatly, a pint of Lager would have been about 20p in 1976, so if inflation says its around 9-10 times the cost these days, then a pint of Lager should be under £2 today.
Likewise a 65p football ticket would be £6.50 and as you say even the overpriced £1.50 ticket only £15.
I am not sure that you can ever accurately calculate inflation as some things go up at different rates to others |

Bowlercow, in the early 1970’s Southampton had ferry services to both Le Have & Cherbourg in France as you say we were part of the NDLB and so the unions restricted working hours in Pompey their ferryport did not have unions, so when Southampton dockers went on strike in 1984, their counterparts in Pompey had no qualms about working the cross channel ferries that were diverted to Pompey.
So again that was a clear incident where Pompey again scabbed and they took the cross channel trade not only when the strike was on but it stayed when in Pompey when it was over |

SaintMark, we will have to see what port republic do next, but better to wait until the window is closed before making bold predictions, now you may be able to say "I told you so" but if you cant as we have spent money then you will have egg on your face.
Sport republic have made many mistakes over the past few years, but one thing they have done is spend money, not always wisely but they have spent it.
Bowlercow, It always surprises me the faith that some Saints fans have in Ballard, given that his total playing time for Saints is 2 games in the Premier League as a sub totalling 24 minutes, 1 appearance in the FA Cup totalling 4 minutes and 1 - 15 minute sub appearance in the League cup where he scored a goal.
He has been out on loan last year but never really shone in League one.
At 20 he needs to be playing football, he isn't getting it here in the coming season, so out on loan, I hope it does come up to bite us, I wish him well |
