I think we are going to really regret letting Stewart go. His fitness was being managed and he gave a good option to hold the ball up or knock a goal in the last 20 minutes. Given how he was playing, failing to exercise the option for the additional year well before the end of the season was a total cock up. |

I thought Mubama played well in his brief spell. He kept possession of the ball and laid it off intelligently plus he got an assist.
Bragg I also thought made the most of his chance. He needs to hit the weights room tho and beef himself up a bit to prevent being bumped off the ball too easily.
Hopefully JWP can act as a bit of a mentor for the younger players to bring them on quickly. |

This seems far more likely than £8-12 Million on another overseas player. Still got no real idea on any FA Tonda disruption this season which worst case could scupper any promotion push. If don't go up, parachute payments will be cut again. Rather have any money available put towards another experienced striker.

Not his greatest fan but this is a good signing. Really professional player, adds a bit of bite to midfield and will help bring Bragg along.
If he can get back to scoring free kicks that will be an added bonus and help unsettle the bus parking that happens a lot in EFL games.

I sort of take your point but it's more fight in the dog than dog in the fight. Height and build play little part, it's attitude we really need. Keegan, Hurlock, Dennis, Armstrong and Case were all 7ft in attitude in 5 ft something bodies.
Bragg needs to go on the JWP exercise plan to beef himself up. |

I can't blame Stewart given his injury history for wanting a two year deal. Had we given him a one year deal and he got injured would we really have given him another year? Of course we wouldn't have. This is a guy with a family who needs to make as much as he can from a short football career.
If we were deadset in exercising the option for an additional year, blame must fall on whoever failed to spot the contract renewal date at Saints. If the agent spotted it why didn't we?
Would have liked him to stay for another year but we just need to find a good replacement now. |

The issue with Downs is that he clearly wasn't ready for the Championship last year. Whether that was physically or mentally, we didn't really get to find out. Some seem to lay it squarely on his character, which again I am struggling to see how they have reached that opinion as we saw so little of him. Hopefully, a year on he can kick on and earn his place. I'm sure it will be to his benefit to have an old hand like Larin around, who can share his experience.
