I listened to Addy this morning on the 606 podcast and I enjoyed his call but I thought his criticism of Julian Stephan was a bit harsh. I'm not sure what the bloke's done wrong.

And thanks for writing so movingly about what this board means to so many people. I hope you can find some comfort in the many messages of empathy and support you will receive.
I think Madsen, by his own admission, found it very hard in his first season, adjusting to a new country and a much higher level of football. Who wouldn't? I don't thing it"s right to say that he was shirking, that goes to the man's character. He's human like the rest of us - no one's trying to "canonise" him.
It's all words, isn't it. Jimmy himself needs to take a long hard look in the mirror. He's so far below his own level, it's unbelievable. He continually boots the ball long down the pitch to hand over possession time and time again. He looks about as fit as a sack of potatoes and, worst of all, I've seen absolutely no sign of leadership from him on the pitch. He needs to sort himself out, and then start shouting at a few players because that performance tonight, and on Sunday, was absolute dross and an insult to the fans, especially the ones who travel.
Fair enough! I didn't think he was that bad at Portsmouth for what it's worth. As for West Brom, everyone had a very bad night including the manager with his team selection / positioning. Even the kitman had a nightmare. White socks with the pink kit, what was that all about! If you look like a pub team...
The first 9 pages of this thread have acknowledged the vast improvement in Madsen's performances over last season. I now find it astonishing that after a couple of mediocre games away from home, where the entire team has been poor, Madsen seems to be singled out for criticism. The bloke is knackered. He's been overplayed because we have no one else in the entire club who can come anywhere near his level. So let's slag the bloke off and remind ourselves that he "was absolute fcking dog sht last year".
I think he has shown a lot of guts and character to improve to the level he has after the dog's abuse he was taking in the stadium and on here. Let's not start all that again.
