Saturday marks the start of a 15-day, 5-game stretch - the only period this season where we have 2 consecutive midweek games.
There was only one such period in the 2025-5 season, over Christmas/New Year, which ended with a 3-0 win at home to Sheffield Wednesday, leaving us only two points off a play-off place.
However there was a price to pay that day - we lost Morrison before the start of the game, Burrell after 21 minutes and Varane after 47.

Need to manage players like JCS, Cirkin, Lamptey, Poku, Chair, Burrell, Kamara, Madsen. Long old season, need to rotate and make sure we don’t risk losing anyone for long periods. | | | |

Three consecutive London games in a row probably helps but it seems a fitter squad and obviously quite a young one with a decent level of depth so being optimistic it could be to our advantage. | | | |

It brings home why Julian put such a high priority on getting minutes into Cirkin, Lamptey and Madsen last Saturday. Going to need as many fit players as possible to enable rotation. Jimmy needs to be protected in training as we don't have a similar experienced player to replace him. | | | |

The current squad isn't perfect but it does look much more able to cope with this run of games than it would have done in recent seasons.
We will need Kamara, Cirkin and Lamptey to contribute but not too much given their lack of pre season training. We don't want them breaking down. To sustain the best level of performance possible, we're going to need their availability throughout the season. |  | | |

I would prefer for this to be happening now than deeper into the season when a build up of injuries is more likely. Plus a number of the games are in London , which should help as the travelling aspect seemed to be just as big (if not bigger) issue than actually playing. | | | |

Well it will be a good test, and interesting to see who is rotated and who is not.
Leftback probably the biggest issue, does feel like we have cover everywhere else pretty much if we stick with 1 up front. [Post edited 28 Aug 13:20]

Good point, especially for the midweek games. Shouldn't be any early morning ice baths at Heston. Our longest journey is the trek to WBA for a 12.30.
Both Cardiff and Middlesbrough have to travel to HQ having travelled to Burnley on the Wednesday. However they'll probably fly to London. WBA go to Derby on the Wednesday before facing us. [Post edited 28 Aug 15:52]
