No such luck I'm afraid. I think he was the best manager we ever had!

Well done Oakfarm old chap, you must have had a very happy weekend. I wish I could have been with you because we would have had a lot of shared memories as I beat your eighty five years by one. My late dear dad took me to me to a lot of away games late forties and fifties on his BSA motorbike and sidecar. I hope you will enjoy watching the R's a lot more times.

Don't you believe it! The WSJ yesterday had a review of the Netflix program and was pretty scathing, calling it the 'Royal Pity Party'. The 'Yanks' I know here in Texas are disappointed with Harry and disgusted with Meghan.

England Manager
at 16:51 20 Nov 2022

I know I am an old geezer who is badly out of touch but I hope somebody can tell me this report I saw about the England manager is not true. Salary 6 million quid and a 50% bonus for winning the cup. Unbelieveable. Football must be awash with money. Maybe we need a spectator strike or something.

Difficult one this and a 'modern' fan will obviously be choosing from a limited choice whereas an old geezer like me can go back to the 1940's, Reg Allen, Ivor Powell etc.
However, my five would be;
Ingham, Bedford, Keen, Marsh, Francis.

Liz Truss is the new PM
at 20:46 6 Sep 2022

I am an infrequent contributor to LFW but the level of many comments about the new PM and the method of her election is very disappointing to say the least. I would have thought that party MP's are in a far better position to judge a comrade's ability than a member of the public. The comparatively close result suggests two well qualified candidates. After all, think what the presidential voting system here in the States has produced, where the entire electorate vote for their choice. Given the chance, this lady might well turn things around.

Too many reasons against becoming a citizen, far outweighing my political views. Most of them are financial but the over-riding reason is that I like being a Brit.

As a green card holder of long standing I fully agree with this advice except I would delete the words 'at night'. In the big cities a lot of crime is now being committed in broad daylight thanks to the Democrat 'catch and release' policy.

Thanks Juzzie, your post is a revealing snapshot of the background to the current situation.
Whilst not excusing Putin's methods it does explain the political history leading up this mess.

Hands up, The man has proved me wrong.

Absolutely spot on. I would love to think that all R's fans took this to heart. The club is still only part way through paying a very heavy price for a period of appalling bad management but we are gradually on the rise again under good management. Let's stay behind them and all the players because they are giving us a Club and a team to be proud of again.

Living abroad I have yet to see Ball but if you liken him to the late Mick Leach that's good enough for me!

Too true, over the years we have had many superb keepers and one of the best imho was Reg Allen but I may be the only supporter left who remembers him. Absolutely fearless. His black and white postcard picture (purchased from the supporters' club shop on the terrace) graced my bedroom wall as a kid, along with a good few few others. Happy memories!

Yes, I noticed that too, and I suppose it is due mainly to Wycombe being so far adrift but any mid table team that loses two or three games will be in trouble. Thank God and the team for those wins. And what about Brentford, twenty games undefeated and might well be champions. I say good luck to them and hope we can copy them!

Yes indeed, Dave Thomas, and speaking as one of those old farts, we are quite right to keep banging on about him. That game aginst Wolves was classic Rangers, just like the Parkes/Thomas/Bowles goal. What a goal, what a team. Also a mention for the late Mick Leach, a wonderful teamplayer and not always fully appreciated by some fans.
