3rd recount coming up, word is Labour won it, this would be a major surprise. If the Tories win the recount they'll be another!

They've probably got until early October to conclude it before the next election.

It is a five year fixed term and can only be shortened in one of two ways:

if a motion of no confidence is passed and no alternative government is found
or if a motion for an early general election is agreed either by at least two-thirds of the House or without division.

Unlikely that the Tories will vote for either of these!

I slammed one in the ballot box (a vote that is) for Labour in Kensington from close range Thursday. Couldn't really miss from that distance but they all count. Still no confirmation of result though.

My wife's sister was doing the count last night. no inside gossip though. So it counts for nothing.

Rumour first count was abandoned after a counter was heard saying: "One for you, two for me, three for you, four for me ..." etc.

Get in! If only the Queen had turned round to Theresa May this morning and said: "Sorry dear, hung parliament, next goal wins." Great result for Kensington anyway. A poignant coda for the election.

Well the last time I posted that May would call an early election, someone posted advising that I'd no idea what I was talking about. Of course, that was before May called an early election under the 2011 Act and we've just about ended up with a very odd looking coalition government.

As this campaign unfurled, it struck me that the Conservatives looked like they wanted out! Just a feeling of course, but then again: their campaign was just so poor; the task ahead of them now. so daunting, and the lack of ability in government, so stark, losing still looks their only way out!

20 votes won it! 7,000 Tory majority over-turned. Maybe now they'll stop knocking the council houses down and stop turfing the tenants out of the borough. I'd say it was the disgruntled middle-class' wot swung it though. And as we can see when the middle-classes swing boy do they swing!

The slow reddening of Kensington and Chelsea continues. Two things seem to be driving this — increased turnout in the seat’s council estates, and the replacement of affluent Tory-voting Londoners with foreign oligarchs who are ineligible to vote.

Election 2017: Why did Canterbury and Mansfield switch sides?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-40222242

Canterbury had been Conservative since 1918. Now Labour.

Mansfield never had a Conservative MP since the constituency was created in 1885. Now Conservative.

Labour have won about 5% more of the popular vote than they did when they won in 2005 and had 355 seats. Bizarre indeed.

Just plain Kensington since 2010. Chelsea got transferred to Chelsea and Fulham, which is solid Tory.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?
