Been trying give rarely heard these days bands a day's play each lately.

Yesterday, the short lived career of Mansun,
today the barely acknowledged Welsh rockers, Budgie.

IIRC Blue Nile were sponsored by Linn musical equipment and there was always a Blue Nile LP available when auditioning LP12 decks.

The grass is always greener.

Not sure they had a genre

I'd forgotten all about them.

Remind me a bit of Slapp Happy

Being an indie kid of the noughties there's a number of bands from that era I felt didn't get as much recognition as they deserved (certainly compared to the crap R&B/pop mainstream stuff that dominated the airwaves then and still does now...)

Was always a big fan We Are Scientists, Maximo Park (both still going - and both great live), The Futureheads (recently reformed for another album). Enjoyed The Holloways too back in the day.

Haven't head some of those names in ages!

I'm sure I've seen all of those live - maybe not Maximo Park...

Likewise massively takes me back, saw all those bands plenty of times during my university days! Takes me back to being smashed on cheap beer in sweaty indie clubs

So with inconvenient deaths of Dave Greenfield and Florian Schneider forcing my musical selections, I've since had a day of early Biffy Clyro, tomorrow to please Liam, XTC, but today

Great band, I have their first album, Age of Winters, on CD

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Icicle Works - criminal how they never got radio play and hits they deserved. Loads of great tunes.

Diesel Park West - similar lack of radio and hits but plenty of storming tunes on their first album Shakespeare Alabama
