More like 20StoneOfHoop now.
Let's face it I'm not getting any thinner.
Pass the cake and pies please.
His peace work would be enough for any lifetime, but he helped found the Derry credit union with his own money and used to go knocking door to door to get people of Bogside to sign up. Was something seven of them started it with 4 pounds, and now there's 14k members and £21m. He drove something that properly transformed people's every day lives
A man of peace. Maybe not appreciated in GB but recognised around the world. RIP
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one’s lifetime. (Mark Twain)

well said Brian ðŸ‘. Irelands greatest human being bar none. Risked his life on many occasions for his Relentless pursuit of peace and justice. A political titan in every sense of the word. Its always been a fragile peace in Northern Ireland but thanks to the sacrifices he and others including David trimble made is a lasting one. RIP, John Hume.
Was always a voice of moderation in any debate, which was certainly much needed at the time.
I'm sure I do remember him getting riled up by Paisley during one TV appearance though - called him an 'ignorant gulpin' as I remember, which he seemed to be ok with - had probably been coming :)

RIP John and thank you.
Perhaps his most famous quote
"If the word ‘No’ was removed from the English language, Ian Paisley would be speechless."
