Other than the result i pretty much missed a good day, so i've been told. probably the only important qpr game i've missed in the last 50 years. My brother in law(who's fulham by the way, so i blame him) and his missus were taking my daughter to ireland for a weekend break, all planned, and i was the chaufeur to the airport, not the best of timings.
i've only ever seen about 30 seconds of highlights, any of you good people got anything in the way of some serious highlights, or even the full 90 minutes. heard we had almost 3 sides of the ground.

Yeh it was pathetic, and it always gets lost in the Ferdinand departure. We lost Wilkins and Wilson and Bardsley got a long term injury all at the same time.
Wilson felt worse to me at the time because Ferdinand had been on the cards for a couple of years, we got decent money, and we obviously needed to invest to replace Wilkins eventually. Also, we did have very promising youth strikers in Gallen, Dichio and still had Bradley Allen IIRC.
(I can sort of see what Wilkins was up to in bringing in Hateley, if only he hadn't been such an utter cock - and crock) But Willo went for nothing just when we most needed someone like him, I'd sort-of thought he might have moved into central mid as the new Super Ray.
Not sure I ever knew about Kasey Keller, I'm belatedly narked because I always thought we were a proper keeper away from a half-way decent title challenge and the difference he'd have made relative to cost would have been immense

Losing Clive Wilson was one of the worst moments in My QPR supporting history.
I was f ucking inconsolable when he went to pis sing tottingham. Absolute quality paper, should have played for England (Frank Sibley said it best). Bloody hell, he was a joy to watch. Him and Bardsley.
I love Clive Wilson.
We missed him more than Les. And Les was a huge loss.
Clive Wilson was total and utter quality. F ucking brilliant.
What a f ucking football player. Beautiful.

Among many annoying things about Keller ... - our keepers were awful. The amount of times Ferdinand would put in an amazing shift and get let down by Roberts. Remember Les traipsing back to the halfway line at The Dell as 1-0 turned into 2-1. - we actually looked to that division for the answer, and came up with Sommer. - Keller had played brilliantly in several Millwall cup runs, two of which (93/94, 94/95) featured brilliant performances against us!

Too right, those were the days. Willo and Bardsley playing as wingers more than defenders. That season we missed all 3 penalties, Wilson would of kept us up in 95/6. It still hurts because I honestly didn't believe in relegation. I knew it existed but it happened to other clubs, not us. I was a baby in 79 so that one passed me by

Wilson and Bardsley tearing Leeds a new one:
All the sweeter after Strachan had put them ahead.
Suffering since 1978.

I've posted about it before but one thing I never understood from that period was the blind spot Gerry seemed to have about Coco The Clown Roberts.
He played two thirds of our 42 league games in the 92/93 season and with a better keeper we could have finished higher I'm sure.
That was an odd one. Started the season, was our best player in the first two or three games, we had a Friday night TV game up at tranmere and the chat on the terrace was he was going to Fulham (division below) for a couple of hundred grand. Which he eventually did in January. He won two promotions and had another ten years in the Prem with Fulham and West Ham. We replaced him with Keith bloody Rowland.
Obviously it’s since come out that via Nick Blackburn that Harford was up to all sorts of stuff with dodgy agent deals but I do remember it also being said at the time that there was a bit of a racial element to it. Brevett, Impey, Quashie, Sinclair all went out of that team for buttons and in the games after Brevett left against Port Vale, Crewe, West Brom etc we were fielding an all white 11 which can’t have happened too often at QPR in the last 40 years.

I was behind the goal where the Wimbledon equaliser was, huge foillowing, was also at the league cup Ainsworth game and of course Hillsborough.
The amount of what if moments with QPR, but the more you think the more annoying the Houston, Harford era's were really in how they truly were awful, Nick Blackburn, Clieve Berlin and Wright really did make a mess of things.
To a degree mistakes in those times still affect us to this day in a way, though we've had our chances since.
Incidentally the shirts from that Compaq era is one of my favourites alone we had I think in 97-98? It had QPR on the sleeve?
I never got that one and it's a regret - to a degree.

Good thread, even though it does make me want to drink myself unconscious.
Amazing to think the handover from Thompson to Wright and the era that followed saw us go from a club consistently finishing top half of the Premiership to a third division team in administration with no training ground in the space of just *5* years. And Hateley. What a piece of work he was. Wish someone had run on the pitch that day and stuck something 'orrible in his ear.

What a night in Victoria and St James' Park afterwards. Hundreds of us. Literally swinging from the chandeliers in one boozer until the OB arrived and shut it

that tranmere game if its the one i'm thinking of, we lost 2-1, peacock scored our goal i think. as you say, friday night. went up on the lsa coach, one of the hottest and most uncomfortable nights from the heat, bit like the last week or so . still enjoyed them away days, even when we lost.
