If the ban was lifted tomorrow, would you go to the next home game? on 11:22 - Oct 25 by PinnerPaul
If ban was lifted, I presume it would be safe.
Not the point of the poll (if there ever has to be a point! ), There is a growing clamour around the nation to allow fans in (see TalkShite campaign amongst others).
The Q is if that won and the ban was lifted tomorrow, would you go next week?

Not really why I posted this. It is more about people's attitude towards C-19 rather than whether QPR are any good or not.
Even if QPR were top of the league winning every game, I'm just not sure that I'd go - I really do not want to catch COVID and without any limitations, going straight back to crowds would be insanity.
I was just trying to gauge whether people would ignore everything common sense about this virus and just go to games.
I've never missed a game simply because the team are playing poorly but I would not go back for the very reason you state. I will always buy a season ticket so the clubs got my financial support at the moment.

I think its a great thread daveman as the responses have pointed out .

You'll be waiting a long time, Ted. It will never be eradicated. Absolute best we can hope for is a vaccine that works reasonably well on most people, and for treatments to improve. But it will never be eradicated.
'Eradicated' is probably the wrong word, but it will definitely die out sooner or later as any particular strain of virus always does. The Spanish flu killed 20,000 Irish between 1918/19 . The third wave in the Spring of 1919 was the most vicious and widespread of all, but a few months later it had disappeared altogether. The same will happen with covid 19 - the only question is when

Yes I expect I will be waiting a long time and yes on reflection 'eradicated' was probably the incorrect phrase to use. The bottom line for me is the Covid-19 pandemic has become a life changer as it has for everyone. I'm confident that a vaccine will become available and the sooner the better.
No point in me waffling though.
Stay safe.

I sat in a pretty packed pub yesterday afternoon watching the game on my phone with my stepson who'd come over for the weekend, while a game was being played in an empty ground a 15 minute walk away.
Please help me make some sense of this nonsense
Just a personal view but from my perspective its the "sat in a pretty packed pub" bit that is the nonsense element of the argument.
I believe we should all be trying as much as possible to keep any social interactions to an absolute minimum at the moment, Pubs should be closed and staff put on 100% furlough at least until the R is WELL below 1
I wont be back this side of Christmas even if they offered me a seat in the directors box

I would go because I think it's a calculated risk. I've had it already and I think the chances of getting it again are very slim. I'd be mixing with my family and not strangers. It would be different if I was shielding but I'm doing other activities, like exercise classes and I just don't see that it would be any different, especially as it's outside and we could wear masks. I'm just as worried that all the things I enjoy about life will be destroyed if we carry on closing everything indefinitely. Which is why I go to my socially distancing gym, cinema, theatre and restaurants and I also want to go to my socially distancing football match.

I wont be at LR anytime soon definitely not this season that's for sure even if the ban was lifted tomorrow.
When this murdering Covid-19 bastard thing has been eradicated I'll feel a lot more comfortable about going out then and only then will I go to LR and on the odd occasion the Crown & Sceptre or any of the other pubs, as for now; Wash your hands. Social distance. Wear a mask. Take Vitamin D (optional)
Its not going to be eradicated - like measles, mumps, smallpox and countless other conditions my chemist is advertising being vaccinated against.
As I've said countless times 'normal flu' kills up to 20,000 EVERY year WITH a vaccine.
I've said 'no' but that's based on my family commitments at the moment. In relation to COVID19 I'm not entirely sure how much I trust the government. I think we all know the risks and some are happy to take their chances. I've got a family to think about so don't really want to get sick, be off work and a burden to them all so I can watch football.
Also, for me going to QPR has never just been about watching the football, it's the entire match day experience and being in town. I'm trying to work out how I can best enjoy QPR as things are now and I'm not sure wishing to go back to Loftus Road is relatostic or helpful for me.

Some good replies here and just what I was after. I have a low appetite for risk with the virus - I am a bit more vulnerable than the "kids", but at 49 am far from the risky group. However, I don't want to take the chance that others appear to be accepting. For example, as much as I miss it, you won't catch me near a "packed pub" anytime soon. In fact, anywhere "packed" is something to avoid.
However, others will and fair play to them.
I get the mental angst some might feel at not getting back to "normal", but for me waiting a year, although really difficult, feels the right thing to do.
I've kept my season ticket and am essentially paying £10 per stream knowing I will never use it, just on the off chance that maybe if they do allow fans back in, I can go.

Ah I see DavMan - thanks for the clarification - I would still go though.
As I've said I'm officiating at clubs with far less personnel/resources to take precautions than a professional club so its a no brainer, for me at least.
However, as I've said, everyone should make up their own minds.

Of all the things I'm missing: jazz gigs, rowdy pubs, long boozy lunches, foreign travel, a miserable Saturday at KPF stadium is at the very top of the list. I would be in like a shot. Outdoors, sitting in rows rather than face to face, of course there are risks involved but I've been to Leeds away. Suspect it will be another season before we get the opportunity, just hope that we don't all get out of the habit and forget the thrill. Watching our team on a screen is dire, but the live experience is still slightly more life affirming than life threatening.

Technically no, I would have to quarantine to enter the UK I believe.
If I was there? I think I would struggle to resist attending if it was possible. I am an avid traveler, I love live music, theatre, live sport - I get quite restless having such opportunities curtailed. So I would struggle to resist.
On the basis that I'd be cycling to the ground and not interacting with anybody else, I might go if I was satisfied that distancing measures in the stadium were in place and I was comfortable I wouldn't get caught up in a crowd.
The risk with football matches, or any other large attendance outdoor event, is probably more the travel and people meeting up in groups rather than the actual game itself.
