Knowing us they’d offer Bannan and we’d take Luongo instead.

Just opinions Myke. I still think Luongo was underrated by our fans and got through a lot more work than they realised because he didn't come across as a hard man. He's got the third best tackles per match in the Championship at the moment in a poor side and Scowen hasn't even got that in League One. He's also more mobile than Dickie. He's not Paul Scoles or David Platt admittedly but I'm not sure we'd be able to afford someone that good.

I'd personally love to see him back but if not him, I'd be happy to see another similar player, as I think that's one of our biggest weaknesses in the side. I completely agree with you about someone protecting the back four but we need someone mobile as they also have to link defence and attack, which we're lacking at the moment, hence such a big gap between our attacking midfield and our striker as they have to come so deep to get the ball without a link person who can also get back quickly when needed.

But it's clearer now we've been playing a while. In the summer we needed so many players in different positions and Amos was able to play that tackling, mobile role, and I can see why they didn't prioritise that. Now it's pretty obvious that's a big hole in our squad and hopefully we can pick someone up at least on loan.

Yes, Amos is a huge loss between the two boxes. I'm trying to think was the window still open when he got injured? If so we should have moved to plug the gap straight away. I agree on Dickie's lack of mobility, just trying to think of a stop-gap until the window opens

I always felt that Luongo was underrated by the fans here but did a lot of good things. The Australia trips were obviously a problem but I'd love to have him back.

Myke, Amos was injured at Bournemouth on the 17th October. The window had closed the day before.

Even if the injury had happened the week before, it would have been very difficult. A couple of days for the scan results and then only three or four days left to identify targets still available, trying to negotiate fees and wages etc.

Some good points about Luongo/Dickie from FB/Myke.

We're definitely lacking that link in front of the defence. I'd agree with Myke about Dickie, it might seem counterintuitive but Dickie said himself he's a ball playing defender or that that was his preferred style of play. We could drop Cameron and bring Masterson back in? I think it would be worth a try, we've seen much crazier things under Holloway in recent times - anyone remember when Lynch briefly played upfront and nearly scored?!

With regards to Luongo, I thought he was very good on his day. Pressed very well and could be very physical when required. From what I remembered he always put in a shift.
