If QPR cannot manage 50% possession we will not keep the recent improvement up.In the last two games we have not managed to break the opposition press. It looks like they are pressing the back six.
Do that and we start winning again.

Not forgetting the need to take golden chances to score!

We beat Bournemouth and Blackburn with less than 50% possession and lost to Derby with 57%. It's not how much possession you have, it's what you do with it that matters.

Ahhh.... possession, the holy grail of stats.

From the other week, West Ham v Spurs;

Possession... Home 31% Away 69%
Shots... Home 4 Away 20
Shots on Target... Home 4 Away 4
Corners... Home 5 Away 7

Spurs had all the possession, the most shots yet lost 2-1.

Even if we go back almost a decade to when we won 1-0 at Chelsea. They had all the possession, something like 27 shots yet most went into row z

We get one sniff and we score.

All these stats are all very well (and fill up lots of time for Sky Sports) but the only stat that really counts is the final score.

So by your logic if you take your chances you always win? Wooly thinking.
Think about it ,if you create 5 chances, but generally only take 2 of the 5 you score 2.
Create three score 1.
On balance statistically regularly create 5 score 2.
My point is with greater possession you create can 5 chances.
Yes occasionally having less than 50% can work ,but generally does not.

The only alternative is to have a striker who scores say 4 out 5 chances. They cost millions.
QPR need ,on balance to create as many chances as possible.

If by ‘taking your chances’ you mean scoring goals then yes, by ‘taking your chances’ you will more than likely win. NB: I never said ‘always win’, not sure where you got that from.

Possesion and scoring goals are not mutually exclusive though, as demonstrated by the West Ham v Spurs example above. Both teams had four shots on target despite the big difference in possession but West Ham took their chances, Spurs didn’t, and won.
