| Snacks. 19:53 - May 3 with 3290 views | Mick_S | This must have been done before, but as we approach the end of the season we will be snacking more. No more rhyming, but are you sweet or savoury? Just finished a massive bowl of ready to share potato sticks. Twiglets next. Yum. | |

Popcorn is a good place to start, Brian. Salty - good. Savoury. Sweet - bad. I do accept that there are fine lines here. Some feckers even buy mixed bags where they mix salt and savoury in the same bag.

Brian, As a rule, if you can imagine eating something in a pub with dirty bogs and no kitchen, it’s probably savoury. Scotch egg - savoury. Strawberries - sweet. Cashews may be the exception here. Potato sticks are amazing, but not for sharing from the same bowl. When you shovel them into your gob, your hand gets all wet and then your hand is straight back in the bowl. Urgh.

I’m saying if you can’t imagine eating it in a pub with dirty bogs and no kitchen - i.e. something like strawberries - then it’s probably sweet. Anything they might be able to rustle up - crisps, rolls, sausage roll/pork pie/Scotch Egg/Pickled egg, is likely to be savoury. You can extrapolate from there.

God, that sounds gross. Sometimes West Country "cuisine"Â has to be approached with caution, I reeled a bit when someone told me about pubs which sold badger ham and I found out the basic ingredients involve an actual dead badger. Smoked eel was/is lovely though. Not exactly available as a pub snack though.
