I was about 12 when my family first got a video player. And yes it was a Betamax. We rented it for 1 year before getting a VHS like sensible people.
Me & my brother used to get the bus down to the video rental place. We thought that Burt Reynolds was just about the coolest guy that ever lived. I wonder what other films they have with Burt Reynolds in it. Ooh look there's one here with him in it, it's called Deliverance, let's give that a go.
2 hours later we are all and my brother says "I definitely preferred The Cannonball Run."

It has one of my favourite film quotes of all time.
The protagonists were wondering why they should bother trying to persuade Locke to sing in their concert. One auld fella reminisced, recalling that when Locke sang in a concert "there wasn't a dry seat in the house".
Funnily enough, that line was edited out when it screened on TV....
