Did anyone else find that the penalty area at the school end last night was in relative darkness. Sitting in the Upper Loft I found it quite hard to see the ball in front of the goal at the far end against the brightness of the LED advertising hoarding. Or it could just be my rapidly deteriorating eyesight!

I think it would be good to send a petition of some kind to Hoos, which I'd gladly help with. It's clearly something that needs a fix.

Anyone got Lee Hoos's email address?

Are these LED advertising boards new this season?

Fans of other clubs seem to have been complaining about them for a while: https://www.balls.ie/football/opinion-led-advertising-boards-absolute-joke-35517

"Last night, Bayern's Thiago was caught out as he played a pass to what he thought was a teammate in red, but was instead a digital Santa making a dash down the wing"

I have sent the following email to complaints@qpr.co.uk

"Dear Lee Hoos / Supporter Relations Team

Tuesday was the first evening kick-off this season, so the first time I have noticed how ridiculously bright the new advertising boards are. They are genuinely dazzling, and make it very difficult to see the play at the far end of the pitch.

I sit in the Upper Loft, and the first—half action at the School End was almost impossible for me to follow. It must be even worse for supporters in Ellerslie Road, because they will be looking at the ads on three sides of the pitch.

I cannot believe this does not make it difficult for the players, too. Imagine trying to pick out a pass to a runner on the South Africa Road wing when there are dozens of brightly coloured bottles (or whatever they are) racing along behind.

(In fact, this latter problem has already been reported - Eg. "Last night, Bayern's Thiago was caught out as he played a pass to what he thought was a teammate in red, but was instead a digital Santa making a dash down the wing".)

I am not alone with this problem. Other supporters around me were also moaning about it. I know Lee Hoos is very conscious of the age demographic of the supporter base, and we do have a lot of older fans — and of course eyesight does become more of a problem in later life. But to be honest, I think those ads are so bright that they must be a problem for spectators of all ages.

They are spoiling the experience of watching football at Loftus Road.

I look forward to your comments.

Good for you.

Much better and more effective to send the club something, than just have a whinge on here.

Thanks. I imagine they will just say that level of brightness is necessary for the TV cameras, for that all-important advertising revenue. I'll let you all know.

In the meantime, if a few more of you complain as well, it will impress upon them that this is an imortant issue.

Not ducking out but I wasn't there, but I agree the more that complain, to the club, the better.

Quick reply from the club, anyway:

Thanks for your email.

We are sorry that your experience at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium was hindered due to the bright advertising boards.

Thanks for your feedback, the club have been made aware of this and will be adjusting the brightness of the LED advertising boards for future fixtures. Once we were made aware of this issue in the first half, these altered for the second half.

We hope that by the next time you visit the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium this issue is sorted.

Many thanks,
Joe

Seconded.

Surprising just how simple it is to send off a quick note to someone relevant instead of grumbling on the internet!

I tweeted @QPR about it c.15 mins in and they did seem to be less bright in the second half.

Yep and as I have said, I have always received a reply/had any issue resolved by the club.

They're also a bit closer to the pitch. Before the digitial hoardings, you could see the near touchline from the front row of the paddock. The digital hoardings were placed in front of the existing boards, so they removed the touchline. The new hoardings are a bit further out again, and now anyone on the touchline is cut off at the knee from our seats.

That means your seats are now restricted view, and you should pay less for them. Maybe a point for Clive to raise with Lee Hoos next week?
