Where exactly do Watford think they should be?

They've dispensed with coaches who have made far better impressions than Xisco has, despite grinding out promotion. If they only foresaw decline now's a good time (the traditional time for them in fact) to get in front of it.

Bit different when the rolodex had more interesting names than Ranieri in though... especially if they made the move because they wanted the side better organised.

The Pozzo-Watford shit really brings the game into disrepute - where, in all honesty, do they expect a small club in Hertfordshire to be sitting in the Premiership at the best of times? - but what does one expect from a family whose namesake is the fascistic landowner in Beckett's Waiting for Godot! Quite how the English footballing authorities allow them to operate in this manner in light of their worthless 'fit and proper person' standard - well, the mind boggles. Let's hope they now plummet!

In away he's the perfect Watford manager. Managed 21 different clubs in his career, most for only one or two seasons. Oddly his four years at Chelsea has been his longest gig.

As mentioned the hiring and firing doesn't work for most clubs, but seems to for Watford.

It's a horses for courses approach - the last guy did the job of getting them promoted, they've taken the view actually he's probably not good enough to keep them up, Ranieri is available and interested so they've got him in.

Last time they were in the Prem they sacked the manager far too late and then got Pearson in but still went down, so understandably they thought it was better to take action now rather than wait.

Ranieri seems a really odd choice to me. Upcoming fixtures look pretty brutal to me...

Everton (A)
Southampton (H)
Arsenal (A)
Manchester United (H)
Leicester City (A)
Chelsea (H)
Man City (A)
Brenford (A)

Could go either way I suppose but gone before the end of January is my bet.

Really? Which one? Gracia went after four games and when Flores went on 1 December they still had two thirds of the season to go and were going to make all resources to the incoming manager, per Scott Duxbury.

It's just a sh!t show and they reap what they sow.

Yes sorry Pearson came in in December, you're right.

Anyway by and large the strategy seems to work for them
