Gutted. A massive part of my introduction to music and totally loved ALL their stuff and it's timeless.

And this is my favourite YT clip of them that I found a few years ago and have watched on numerous occasions. Never got to see them live unfortunately but what entertainers and the end of show stage pile on just couldn't be done these days.

This gig was at the Colchester Institute in Essex! Imagine being that little suited and booted skinhead on the stage doing the moon stomping/skanking (?!) with everyone else.

Highly recommended watch from start to finish.

And a very poignant end to the concert; "You're wondering now, what to do, now you know this is the end".

RIP Terry Hall and thanks for those Specials moments.

I saw The Specials when they got back together around 2009 at the Hammersmith Apollo which I imagine a few of the people on this board were at, an incredible gig, I was too young for the Two Tone era but I wasn’t going to miss out on seeing them second time round. Had just got engaged to my missus, was with my oldest mates, a memory I’ll treasure forever.

Still got the battered old “Enjoy Yourself” t-shirt from that night and whenever I wear it I’ll get in a chat with someone random on the street about The Specials.

The greatest. RIP Terry.

Just watched a Specials concert of his a few years ago on Sky Arts. You forget how many bloody brilliant songs he and the band did.

Never knowingly right.

The missus had that on upstairs whilst I was catching up with some work in my office.
She said it was excellent and I expected to see it repeated today but no such luck

I did see the thing on The Police after which was okay

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Sky Arts have an on demand section mate so keep your eye out. I will let you know if I see it on there.

You’re right of course (although I never forgot!)

I actually thought that performance (the Sky Arts, IoW) was a bit lacklustre and I have seen the 21st Century Specials a couple of times.

Too young to have seen the ‘originals’ live

heard the announcement on Radio 6 at 11pm on Monday night; couldn't believe what I was hearing, it simply didn't make any sense to me.

last saw the Specials at the Roundhouse just over a year ago and they were still excellent and what a front man and songwriter Terry was.

they were a massive part of my musical awakening as an 11 year old in Hayes and the revival of mod culture along with the NF driven skinheads. The Specials rose above all of that with their multi cultural line up and musical influences.

For Hall to then completely switch genre to pop with FB3 but deal with his own personal history via the dark lyrics set to catchy tunes showed the brilliance of the man.

Whenever one of those 'top 10' album things pops up The Specials is always included for me; what a time to be introduced to music for me and the power of it is still as relevant today as it was then.

Have to admit i dropped a tear on Monday; not as much as my Cov mate who was in bits.

RIP Terry and thanks for everything

Also saw them late 1979, Hammersmith Palais. This is sad news.

I am still Steve but no longer in Dagenham.

"Do Nothing".

Nice touch, as ever.

Such a shame to see him gone. I enjoyed listening to the Specials, Fun Boy 3 and the Colourfield.

R.I.P. Terry Hall
