Good article, but its left me with a few questions.
Did the scrapping of the train in 1951 coincide with us never winning a cup match again? Feels like it may have.
Also didn't realise we were known as the royalists, did we happen to have that nickname before the fakes went for the royals? I suppose imitation is the greatest form of flattery. |  | | |

Paddington would have been a QPR heartland back then before people were moved out to places further afield such as Reading and such. But what struck me most was how many of those happy Rs fans and players returning from the Midlands with a cup win in 1914 wouldn’t, for obvious reasons, have been around for the next Cup away day in 1920. |  | | |

Hopefully this link will work showing a team pic of us before kick off at St Andrews of the cup tie on 21 February 1914. I am sure we lost some of the team as well as fans in the Great war. Such a tragic waste.
I can understand us being known as the Royalists with Queen's in the club name and a ground at Park Royal. Must admit I always thought the R's was short for Rangers but maybe it meant Royalist's. I assume the name was dropped when we moved to Loftus Road or maybe someone realised it's Civil War connotations, during the Great war and being associated with losers so was ditched. Very true.
My Grandad had a season ticket in 1909, the first year we sold season tickets.
He went off to war, along with his four brothers.
He was lucky, he got captured and spent 3 years in a prison of war camp.
He came back skin and bones.
His brothers were all killed.
The kindest man I’ve ever known.
