Going to Cuba ( or not as it seems) 19:21 - Jan 27 with 2629 views | loftboy | Been given permission from the Mrs to tick off one from my bucket list in a couple of years which is my 60th year on this planet, all well and good until you try and find someone that actually flies there. Turns out the airlines have stopped going there as further down the line it may affect an ESTA if you’re travelling to the USA. Never heard of this or seen it on any news, can any of you seasoned travellers shed any light please?

Going to Cuba ( or not as it seems) on 20:26 - Jan 27 with 2167 views | padstow | This might help from their FAQ page: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/faq How does Cuba’s designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism impact my travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program? The U.S. Department of State designated Cuba as a State Sponsor of Terrorism (SST) on January 12, 2021. With limited exceptions, a traveler who is found to have visited Cuba on or after this date is not eligible for travel under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) using an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) and must apply for a visa to travel to the United States. Additionally, a traveler who at the time of application for an ESTA holds dual nationality with both a VWP country and Cuba is not eligible for travel under the VWP using an ESTA and must apply for a visa to travel to the United States. If an ESTA has already been approved and it is later determined that the traveler has been present in Cuba or holds dual nationality with both a VWP country and Cuba, the ESTA will be revoked. Ineligibility for an ESTA is not a bar to travel to the United States. Individuals who are not eligible to travel under the VWP may apply for a visa at any U.S. embassy or consulate. For additional information about travel eligibility under the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act, please visit: https://www.cbp.gov/travel/international-visitors/visa-waiver-program/visa-waive

Going to Cuba ( or not as it seems) on 04:33 - Jan 28 with 1701 views | PlanetHonneywood | I went with Air France via Paris and as suggested above, Iberia out of Madrid might be an option. As I met a lot of Canadians there, then unless the Silly Country won't allow Air Canada to fly over their airspace, that could be an option. I also saw plenty of Yanks there who came in via Mexico. I once got a flight from Guatemala City to San Jose on Cubana Air, which originated from Havana. That said, flying Cubana Air is a bit of a 'return to Jesus' experience! Enjoy, cracking place.

He went Air France from Paris but also Air Europa/Iberia out of Madrid or strangely, Air China once a week "freedom flight". BA code share with Iberia if you're in the OneWorld. Air Europa is more budget airline.

Havana is the greatest city I've ever visited, been five times, love the architecture, the people, the music, even the food is good in paladares. (private restaurants). Flew via Cayman islands last time. Ask them not to stamp your passport. Hasta La Victoria Siempre. [Post edited 28 Jan 16:23]

Going to Cuba ( or not as it seems) on 16:35 - Jan 28 with 1127 views | stneotsbloke | We went to Cuba in February 2024. There was a tourist (TUI ?) flight once a week from Manchester but I understand that has now been discontinued. We wanted four days in Havana then a week at a beach resort. We hade to fly to either Paris or Madrid then transfer to a Havana flight which made it a very long journey. Havana was a great experience. A lot of it is very run down and shabby but notwithstanding that we really enjoyed Havana and glad we did it. Then had a two hour drive to the beach resort of Varadero. The resort hasn't got much to offer but there are wonderful beachside hotels along a 15km strip of land that just out into the Caribbean. Great weather in February/March. Import restrictions mean that food choices are limited with limited variety and and often poor quality. I have Canadian family, they go every winter and love it. They fly direct into a resort at the far end of the island. Really enjoyed Cuba. A lot of it is pretty downmarket, we really enjoyed the experience but it was an assault on the senses. In the final days of Obama's presidency he promised to ease the embargo and travel restrictions but as soon as Trump got in he re-instated the restrictions and, as far as I'm aware, you still can't get an ESTA visa if you've been to Cuba. It's fair to assume that Trump won't ease the restrictions any time soon. We went with www.lovecuba.com. They were excellent

As a tourist I have nothing bad to say about it, and I’m very jealous that you are going. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c17e0k92g41o.amp
Going to Cuba ( or not as it seems) on 18:05 - Jan 28 with 986 views | BlackCrowe | If you get there, then the perfect night out in Havana for is start with mojitos and cigars in the courtyard of The Nacional Hotel, dinner at La Guarida and then into the the small music bars and your night will unravel in the most insanely wonderful way. Ps. Muhammad Ali and his wife wandered up and asked if they could share our table at The Nacional courtyard back in '97. Seemed very nice but was already quite ill...he's a god out there.

Risky business getting on the lash with Muhammad Ali. Last person in the world who’s pint you’d want to accidentally spill.
