1971. They started out as The Action before becoming Mighty Baby. Bam King went on to become an original member of Ace. Yeah man, they were groovy.

I had on vinyl first time around - bought the CD rerelease some years back which has 9 bonus tracks from the Action.

No one I know, knows who these are or Parcels. I don't check their Spotify plays.

Smells like a trout farm in here

If you like Indiepop....

"a diseased bunch of mofos if there ever was one, their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons." - Lester Bangs on The Beach Boys

Spiky, groove-laden rock from Scotland:

Some of Tesseract's stuff is utterly sublime, like this track. Staccato riffs, pretty atmospheric, almost ambient at times, but still heavy, with quality singing. They really know how to create tension. File under djent / progressive metal, I'd say.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

These guys I watched as a support act to a much more successful band recently. Young bunch that are very very talented. They'll go places

Hmm, not sure about tesseract being unknown. Niche maybe. Know loads of people who like them.

Last night I went and saw The Slow Readers Club in Kingston.
They were absolutely brilliant. Been around for 10 years, massive in Manchester, couple of albums broke top 20.

Next month in Kingston I'm seeing Mr Pete Doherty. Should be a fun evening!

Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

Ah, OK, fair enough. I only know one person who is even aware of them, and he only knew of them because he reads every issue of "Prog" magazine from cover to cover.

While I am here, every album by this now sadly defunct band from Ipswich is great. Beautifully constructed rock, at times eerie, at others pastoral or symphonic.

Not completely unknown. Their take on an old Nick Drake song.

Another in my collection of female singers. From NZ, i believe

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one's lifetime." (Mark Twain) Find me on twitter @derbyhoop and now on Bluesky
