Saturday we finished with Key/Casey/Cabango/Burgess/Tymon. All I am asking is to start with it. He had to change to that because Cabango was coming so far over to cover Key it was leaving space in the middle.

| Swansea City v Queens Park Rangers : Match day thread on 22:51 - Oct 20 with 2174 views | Dr_Winston | The whole idea that the club are "Rubbish at promoting games" is fairly idiotic. Fixtures are announced in the Summer. Nobody with the vaguest interest in attending Swans games is unaware of when and where the fixtures are to take place, or how to get tickets. You'd swear that some people are convinced that Clubcall remains the only way to get information about the club. What puts people off is poor performances, results and the general lack of entertainment on offer. If we were winning every game the place would be full no matter what the club did. | |

As are all midweek games being shown live on the red button. It makes it an easier choice for families with young children who wouldn't get home until after 11pm in some cases, which is not practical on a school night.

Last season Sheehan often resorted to putting extra defensive strength to see us combat that intense aerial battles using Fulton's extra height when needed, most commonly towards the end of games, Cooper's for he most part defended the flanks well to stop.crosses coming into the box so often but many teams in the league are struggling to hold onto leads or seeing games out from winning positions, It would seem we have lost a bit of dynamism in areas of the pitch the teams has become predictable and easy to counter, they attack us down the flanks as we press our fullback high or tuck in defensive mode giving half decent wingers time to run at our defenders pushing us deeper into our box or pumping balls into the box. If we are going to constantly have our full backs up so high then we need to ensure we have at least two defensive midfielders to assist the defence as teams counter us but again does that stifle us going forward? We really need to use the space being left in the midfield be it latter runs by fullbacks or centrehalfs knowing if they drive forward our fullbacks are going to cover them as we don't need them as extra players in attack. If we have we play Casey in the back three he does seem to have a bit of quality with the ball at his feet also intial pace that Burgess and Cabango need time to build up while he also seems sensible or trained at a higher level to know when to get the ball out of dangerous areas. Would he free up the fullbacks to push on we know both Cabango and Burgess can play incisive passes out to their respective wings, do we need to keep both wingers and wingbacks clogging the channels leaving us empty in the middle of the park. It would appear that both Galbraith and Stamenic can provide play through the middle of the park but it seems that their hands ( or feet) are being tied for fear of loosing the ball and having only Burgess and Cabango left in defence so maybe we will see a lot more of Casey because at the moment something has to change to ensure we have that attacking threat and defensive strength. Luke William's team at the beginning of the last season saw a lack of goals for and against but went in pursuit of goals but at the expense of the defence. I am hoping Sheehan remembers that and looks at the alternatives he has to make us better in both attack and defence.

Our time in the Premier League should have increased our fanbase. Of course you’d expect some to drop off, but we should have more now than we did before seven years of massive exposure.

If you play 3 central defenders and wingbacks ,you don’t play wingers so you can play a second forward or another midfielder, depends on formation

More than that really. You have one centre back who has freedom to carry the ball into midfield and your second striker is also able to drop much deeper either to make the midfield compact or to offer an option when we’re trying to pass through the middle. He can also help the centre forwards press by cutting off a passing option. Yes, you do have less threat out wide and the wingbacks may have to be replaced after an hour or rotate starts, but for me it would suit the squad we’ve got.

What more could they be doing? Cut price tickets? As a season holder I would be well peed off.... Those who really want to watch us do... As has been mentuined earlier Sky and telecised games are keeping skme suppirrers away . Those of us who fell in love with the Swans way back when did so when the only luve dootball was at your local league side the only luve tv games being the FA cup,European Cup final, World Cup....plus highlights on MOTD ant the Big Match. It didnt matter how crap the football was...though I wasnintroduced ro us during the Harry Griffiths years...Youngsters today have the Sky experience access to the PL so its understandable why sometimes they dont want to xome and watchnthe boring fiotabll we have served up over the past few seasons

| Swansea City v Queens Park Rangers : Match day thread on 19:29 - Oct 20 by Whiterockin | Just go a back three of Casey, Cabango, Burgess. With Key and Tymon as wing backs and Stamenic and Franco in the middle. Then Galbraith and Yalcouye advanced and Vipotnik up top. Basically 3-4-2-1. We have enough options to vary this if the game dictates. |
I don't think we are miles off being a really good side it's just that we seem to be too conservative in our approach. The set up for me is wrong and we need to be more attack minded especially at home . We have to be targetting a win every home game . The ball is not going from back to front quick enough Vip is isolated and snuffed out . The opposition gain in confidence as a result and start pouring more men forward -result is we are fighting for our lives in the last 20 mins . Going forward (a bit too soon perhaps for tomorrow ) Having Casey in a back 3 will add more height to defend corners as well as attacking corners .I would have Samuels Smith instead of Key ; and Tymon on the other side. Stamenic in the middle with Franco and Galbraith .Wells and Vip up top , Subs Ronald and Yalcouye for Wells and Galbraith . Idah for VIP .

Ticket prices are fine for the game. The trouble is, nobody outside the normal support knows about them. You have to get out into the community, have ticket outlets away from the club. Get into the schools and colleges, Uni etc. workplaces. A bit of effort rather than none at all.

I’m in two minds about this. There’s no doubt the club are useless at promoting games. Always have been. When we were in the PL, it used to amaze me the Ospreys games seemed to be better promoted. Upcoming fixtures on boards near the stadium etc. I’ve no doubt most of Swansea doesn’t know we’ve got a game tomorrow. At the same time, I’m equally convinced that anyone who would have any interest in going, knows about it and knows about all our home games. People don’t just rock up on a Wednesday and pay £30 each for a ticket without being a fan. We didn’t publicise the Man City game any more than league games and enough people knew about that for it to sell out quickly.

The Man City game immediately attracted the PL plastics. I am 100% certain , and being in sales and marketing myself, successfully, that if the club employed someone who is an expert in that field, there would be a few thousand extra bums on seats every game.

It's a simple fact really. Supporters know when there is a game on and buy tickets and there are not enough of these to fill the stadium on a regular basis. Possible supporters/floating fans do not know when there is a game on therefore dont buy tickets. Everything should be done to encourage possible floating fans to attend matches, to do this the club has to make them aware when a game is on and make it easy for them to buy tickets. They dont.

I don’t know much about sales and marketing, so I’ll take your opinion on this over mine, but I just don’t see it as the sort of thing people are going to do on a whim. When we were at the Vetch and it was a tenner yes. Now you’re looking at around £30 for a ticket, best part of £100 for a family. That’s a lot of money to people who aren’t particularly bothered about it. I may be wrong, but I’d imagine people who are prepared to spend that kind of money, particularly in the economic climate, already know were playing. Having said all that, how much can a couple of electronic billboard advertisements cost? You see them advertising small local businesses, so they can’t be expensive.
