Now, being realistic can we hope for 4. (lose to West Brom, and win/draw the next two at home). Thoughts?

Agree. Vigs is nailed to the goal line, so something needs to change. Fisher has taken his chances well, especially the penalty shoot-out in the Caraboa Cup. He deserves his shot in the league.

Our confidence is shot, concede and you can visibly see the willpower drain from the players. We need to turn that around and a goal lead will be a start, I'm not sure we have it in us to come from behind particularly away.

Being able to defend should be at the top of matos' list. Hopefully we will see an improvement from the 3 days of training this week.

We lose tomorrow, Portsmouth and Sheffield Utd both win or even draw we are in the relegation places. We desperately need to beat both oxford and portsmouth at home, if we dont we could be cut adrift. Hopefully we will see some effing fight in the team tomorrow.

West Brom should take all 3 on form , Oxford have just beaten Ipswich that decimated us so deserve respect. But realistically these are 6 pointers now so nothing less than a point is acceptable but we could take 3 . Poundshop Southampton after last season at their house 🤮 we need revenge. 3 points ☘️ but 1 in reality. The next 3 I just want my Super Swans back where the players bust a gut and make us proud. Win , Lose or draw as long as you give it your all lads. I don’t care about the score. Matos will get a tune out of us soon 🔜

Plenty of games left fortunately to fix this system and get the players switched back on. The vast majority of goals we concede have been individual errors which can be fixed with good coaching. We have conceded far too many goals from poor marking at the far post recently - Eom on Tuesday, Samuels Smith on Saturday. Add to that Cabango and Burgess chipping in with a few clangers and that has been the difference between picking up points and losing (probably lots more I could mention here too). Matos could do worse than shake it up a bit for a couple of games and bench the poor performers: Out with Vig, Ronald, Cabango, Eom, Key, Cullen In with Fisher, Casey, Inoussa and Widdell, Yalcouye We are undoubtably at our lowest point currently so the only way is up, underperforming players need to get their hunger back and fight for the badge which is why I would drop them now and change the dynamic of the team with a bit more hunger and energy. WBA are really struggling too and from what I know will be sacking Mason on Saturday if they lose, we can get something out of this if we show up. Ronald surely must be dropped if we are to have a chance, Its been a long time since I have seen such a poor winger play for the Swans, if there is an offer on the table in January I would bite their hands off. Key unfortunately just isn't suited to a back 3, he needs to play as a traditional right back in a back 4. Unlike Ronald he does work his socks off and IMO plays for the badge, just doesnt fit with our current style but could be decent at this level in the right team and set up. Vig needs a shake up too, Fisher hasn't done anything wrong this season so deserves a chance. |
Was watching the Oxford Ipswich game and the commentator asked Vaulks what has happened recently to change Oxfords fortunes. He replied that Rowatt had made them harder to beat - tightened up the defence . In fairness Ipswich didnt create much at all and their keeper was the busier. He also said they are playing with more confidence . Noticeably the winner was scored last night by Placheta one of our ex players a good breakaway goal when Ipswich were caught on the counter. Oxford will not be an easy game they are not the same team they were a few weeks ago. [Post edited 29 Nov 11:43]

Im certain the defence will be on the top of matos' to do list. One thing he has is time, but not alot of it. Oxford will do exactly the same to us as they did last night. I know its a bit early but its a 6 pointer, along with the Portsmouth game. [Post edited 29 Nov 10:35]

| Next three games on 20:12 - Nov 29 with 246 views | streetlyjack | For a short while today there seemed to be a glimmer of hope until the usual feeble defending kicked in. This won't change overnight and I hope that Matos can quickly identify the best system for this mob along with the players who are actually up for the fight. Franco feigning an injury instead of getting up and blocking his man getting forward (WBA actually scored from the move) just sums up some of the attitudes within this squad. Regardless of how good a coach Matos is you can't polish a turd - Idah & Ronald really need to find some desire from somewhere if they are going to add any value to this team going forward. | |
