| Cricket 2026 County/International Thread 10:53 - Jan 31 with 92090 views | Superhoops2808 | https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/ I've started a new thread for the 2026 season, and I've started it now because the T20 World Cup starts a week today. (And in fact 2 months and we will be chatting county cricket red ball) In a group with Italy, Nepal and Scotland and a pretty solid squad I expect that we will progress beyond the group stage. After that who knows and will depend on fitness. Curran and Salt played very well in the first game warm up game v Sri Lanka but tougher tests are ahead. Anyway, here is the squad for England (albeit still provisional). Harry Brook (captain), Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Josh Tongue, Luke Wood. Be relying on Archer to stay fit (as per usual) - But hope that Brook finally stands up as captain, and Banton and Jacks perfom like we know they can at county level. If all that clicks should be a good watch. | | | | |

Also read that he's just recovered from cancer. Aussies 187 for 6, Cummins and Renshaw fighting back currently with a 50 partnership.

| Cricket 2026 County/International Thread on 13:01 - Oct 22 with 596 views | numptydumpty | Shame Harry Brook was out off the final ball of ODI against Sri Lanka. But 429 for 4 with Brook 202 runs off 116 balls. The numbers and stats are totally wild, compared to those of us, who watched county cricket in the 70s and 80s. Chris Tavare possibly might not get a look in at international level anymore. In fact, I think I would get more game time chances than Tavare today. Its a different game though now and one day cricket more resemblant to baseball than first class cricket of old. Buy even by todays standard, some innings by Brook. [Post edited 22 Oct 13:02]

Brook is a sensational talent. He has it all at his feet if he applies himself in test cricket and just maybe Fleming will get to the bottom of him. Much as I like seeing England do well, I still run pretty cold at swipe after swipe after swipe going into the stands. Give me the SA v Aus test any day, proper cricket.

Test cricket is by far the more interesting and intriguing game. I think because so many players and teams can get boundary after boundary, which is probably more down to the talent and abilities of the players, as some of them like Brook make it look too easy, so one day cricket can appear very simple. Test cricket though agree is more the grand masters of chess tournaments, by way of comparison. [Post edited 22 Oct 13:35]

| Cricket 2026 County/International Thread on 14:19 - Oct 22 with 470 views | Superhoops2808 | Think we also need to take into account that Sri Lanka are a shadow of the side they used to be No one like Muri, the spin king, or good ole Slinga Malinga or Aravinda de Silva They are the whipping boys of International Cricket sadly - That said, as we often say, you can only beat the opposition in front of you so fair play Harry Brook | | | |
