for all the talk of the great attacking players we rarley look like scoring from open play and rely heavily on either Kane scoring or a moment of brilliance.

I think Foden may well have played himself out of the squad this week, I'd play Gordon as the back up striker rather than him and would take Welbeck this summer above Solanke and Calvaert Lewin

The defence is the worry for me this summer, under Southgate we were strong at the back and stayed in games so your match winners could get us over the line. I think losing the likes of Walker, Shaw and probably Stones the next ones coming through are nowhere near that level at the moment and when it comes to the crunch that will cost us.

Definitely a mistake from Tuchel to drop Walker.

The hope was that Tuchel would take over Southgates squad and and make it more ambitious going forward. So far that hasn't happened and the teams form is poor. Perhaps the players got too comfortable with Gareth and are struggling to adapt to the change.

Currently difficult to get excited about Tuchel's England and can't see us getting any further than the quarter finals tops in the World Cup.

In other news, Italy fail to qualify for a third world cup in a row. It used to be unthinkable theyd miss one let alone a 16 year and counting, hiatus. Italy in the USA would have had a big following, so this one's gonna hurt more.

For me these last two matches have demonstrated that if we had been in an even slightly more challenging qualifying group rather than the ridiculously easy one we were in, we may well have suffered the same fate as Italy, Denmark etc and not be going to the finals at all.

I'm not sure he's changing that much, the style of play is very similar, it's how international football is played.

It's impossible to judge though until the tournament starts, we had some rank bad friendlies under Southgate and then did well when the real stuff started.

I think Quarters would be about par for this squad. Portugal, France, Spain and Argentina all look better equipped than us this time and I think Brazil will do well.

In fairness that has been pretty much England B for the last 2 games, we make qualifying look very easy.

Italy's group was Norway, Israel, Estonia and Moldova with playoffs against Northern Ireland and Bosnia. I think England would have got out of that group or won those playoffs.
