A few of you guys seem to know Majorca quite well
Looking for recommendations for a nice resort for August (Mrs works in a school!!) hotels too if possible
This summer fancy a lazy time, pool, bars, nice restuarants and some music in the evenings - we're 60's but dont realise it lol

it is reasonably warm (early 20's in the day but can feel warmer ) can feel a lot cooler in the night with the wind. Corralejo in Fuerteventura is nice but a bit more expensive. As above, what about Cape Verde - better chance of good weather but haven't been there myself |

On a similar note, any recommendations for the Canaries in January or February? Mrs. Winston and I fancy some Winter Sun.
Had Maspalomas recommended to us but that might be a bit "alternative". |
Canaries - we've been going to Lanzarote regularly for the past 10 years or so and love it
Costa Teguise - 15 mins from the airport, a bit 'spread out' (if you've been you'll know) but really nice - a bit windy, hence 'Breezy Teguise' - lots of nice restuarants and enough music to keep you going afterwards, just do you research
Puerto Del Carmen - again 15 mins from the airport (opposite direction) our favourite, you can make it like Benidorm/Blackpool, not our taste ( Irish bars a plenty) or cherry pick restuarants, especially in the Old Town (Harbour area) loads of live music
Playa Blanca is about an hour from the airport, nice, but a bit too quiet for us [Post edited 10 Jun 18:31]

Cape Verde has come in for some serious criticism in relation to food poisoning, there have been a number of deaths and literally thousands of cases of salmonella poisoning. Having nearly lost one of my kids to shigella/ E. coli it’s not somewhere I’d visit. | | | |

Out of those 3 , I would say Costa Teguise because it has a nice nightly vibe with good restaurant choices. Good sandy beach but a little windy at times which is to be welcomed when the temps. are high. Lots to see there with some good walks around the harbour.
Lanzarotte is great if you want to hire a motorbike which is what i did . Roads have good surfaces in the main , traffic is light and you can head out to other places for a day visit as the island is not too big . | | | |

OHL - thanks for the suggestion - Just looked at Yaiza Princess for Xmas (Mrs works in a school) - 11 nights £5250, lovely hotel though - I'll keep buying the lottery tickets lol
Like the look of Cala D'Or, bit confusing with all the little bays/coves - looking at a short break half term (autumn) to get our bearings for next summer
Booked, Sunrise Beach Hotel in Protaras, Cyprus, 10 nights in August

Cala de Majorca it could be, gang of us went there one year, sea was rough that day, the undercurrent was taking your legs away, eldest was young then and him and the other kids were in the water, I was out a bit further and watching them and it was proper hard work, it got worse so we got them all out, just before the lifecards called everyone out, they had tried to rescue one chap and was working on him one the beach, he passed away sadly, police paramedics were soon on the scene, some were determined to go in the water, the police soon put a stop to that, you don't argue with the spanish cops. |  | | |

Swarm out amongst the boats and further great place to swim the beach by us was great and the one by where you was staying was great swimming,
Cala de Majorca was ok on the rough day, I swarm out a little past the surf, it was hard work, but I'm a decent swimmer, but it was hard work getting back to shore and my biggest concern was the young ones in our group, my mate was with me and we decided to swim back back and get our youngsters out of the water, to dangerous.
We'll meet up next season for a beer and catch an Ospreys game at St Helens, I'll ring you  | | | |
