I saw The Skids last year. It did feel a bit like seeing only half the band, really. Imagine going to see The Stone Roses without John Squire. (says the bloke who saw them after Reni had gone).
Must say, though, they were pretty good and Jobbo is quite the entertainer, very chatty and funny between songs.
They weren’t a patch on The Rezillos, though, who were a bloody riot. Brilliant fun. “ Someone’s gonna get their head ….”

I loved the sound of the Skids, but Jobson’s inability to pronounce the word “Charade” annoyed me unduly. I used to shout, “it’s Sharaad” at the telly.

yea agree. I loved the Skids growing up but it was just a touch before my gig going days. I also finally got to see them last year (maybe the year before) supporting From the Jam. Enjoyed it a lot as they have some great tunes, but imagine what it would have been like to see the original line up.

I was also really happy to get an 01 number when I first moved here Then it changed. "0171 for London doesn't have same ring to it.
I grew up in the same town as the Skids and the Revillos/Rezillos. Used to see Ricky in his massive turquoise suit standing in the terraces in East End Park. He was a full time personality even then.
Faye Fife's mum worked with my dad. She wasn't at all impressed by her daughter's stage antics :-)
I'm glad i'm not on me own with 'O1 for london' I think it was on Thursday nights and was my bible for clubbing , fashion and gigs along with 'time out'. I remember spending 220 quid in 1987 on a safari suit jacket from 'world service ' which became william hunt in neal street because jobson had it on.
