Basically Two reasons firstly we have to move about 6 or 7 players on before we can do anymore business, both it terms of what positions we will be short in and financially.

That's clever then, to end up in a position of having 6 or 7 players you have to move on before you can improve.
That's the trouble ,we keep bringing in mediocre players who end up on the payroll who we have trouble moving on when we need to. | | | |

The other problem is that pretty much every club wants to strengthen in the same areas as us.
Pretty much every club in the Championship (with the possible exception of West Ham) will be in the market for a striker.
There will be a lot of things happening which are a direct consequence of moves happening or falling through elsewhere.
I would imagine there are a number of players (quite possibly including some of our own....) hoping for a move to the Prem, and if that doesn't materialise for them, we may then be an appealing option. |  |

I agree that we need to find homes for our unwanted players before we can finish our transfer business, but that shouldn't stop us getting a Shea Charles replacement through the door now. We've sold Charles and we should be free to spend a decent chunk of that on his replacement, without waiting for anything else to happen.
Hopefully we're also lining up some others, ready for when we do get rid of the unwanted, but we need to land a midfielder regardless of what else happens, so let's get on with it. | | | |

What is so annoying is that is always seems like our rivals get their targets, in good time and look strong but we leave it to the last minute. We have sold Charles, so where is his replacement? Boro brought in Lankshear in good time. West Ham have players in early Bowen, a few 20 m pound signings and now Piroe, looking really strong. Swansea have Vipotnik and Stewart, all ready to go etc. Last season we had to wait to the very final day of the transfer window befpre Fellows, Azaz and a few others came in. That probabaly cost us the points needed for automatic promotion. | |

I think most people anticipated losing two of Charles, Jander, Scienza and THB and I still think that will be the case late in the window. Given the disappointment of last year, Saints have been fairly proactive in securing Peretz, Larin and Dobbin. I've mixed feelings about Stewart and we won't really be able to make a comparison between him and Mubama until the end of the season but positionally the change is like for like at least. Similarly whether Dobbin is an adequate alternative to Azaz won't become clear until he settles in properly. I'd expect a replacement for Charles fairly soon with everything else being resolved on deadline day. | | | |

Yes but Spors got Azaz, Fellows, Jander, Peretz, Larin and Scienza so if he can pull in a couple more of that quality we should be fine.
