Was always baffled by the insistence from some quarters that he was "clearly Premier League quality and we were lucky to have him" or other such variations on the theme.
If he was actually that good someone would have bought him from us long before Coventry actually did, and spare us any nonsense about loyalty or similar stuff. He'd have been off like a shot if the opportunity arose.
Decent but unspectacular Championship player who had to be pushed hard to deliver even that when he was here. | |

Matos doesn’t like loans, the ones we had last season like Yalcouyé weren’t even bought for him. Pre his arrival. We’ve had two this season. You could say a third (Parente) with an option to buy at his insistence. The Sunderland lad hasn’t had a look in, and the other from Man City the same. Unless their clubs have agreed to them being total back up they will be recalled in January. | |
