| Ted Hendrix / RIP 14:46 - Oct 27 with 5550 views | Charlie1 | Hi everyone, Been a long time since I posted so for those who know / remember me, I hope you are all well. My brother and I Dad, Ted Hendrix, who was a frequent poster and known to many on here over god knows how many years, passed away yesterday in the early hours. My mum, brother and I were all with him at the end. Candidly, he did suffer for a couple of weeks and it was a difficult period for us all, but the last few days he wasn’t suffering. He was content and comfortable despite the cancer. Dad loved his club. His hero’s all played in the 60’s and 70’s when he was a kid growing up and causing mischief in west London. A brief story. Fathers / mothers obviously introduce siblings to their football clubs (or mental torture if you support QPR). Dad took me to Loftus Road in 86 for my first game against Liverpool in the Milk cup semi final. No idea when he inflicted it on my younger brother! I stopped going a few years back. Fell out of love with the game and found the Redknapp era awful ie players we signed and we lost sight of who we had become. In addition, my wife and I had a family which was my priority. When we became aware that Dad may not have long left, I took my two girls to Loftus Road for the first time, against Preston last month. In the back of my mind I thought it would be a no brainer. Few away fans, easy win etc. At half time I had two bored kids, tired and thinking what on earth is this, two down and ten men on the pitch. There is something special about Loftus Road when the lights come on, and when there is something more, deeper meaning to it all. Sure enough, the second half was magical. I did tell my girls numerous times that supporting QPR is massive highs and lows (typically lows). They loved it. The day after, they spent time with Dad for the last time (we didn’t know that at the time but I’m sure you can read between the lines re health deteriorating). Therein a conversation about QPR over the years and generations talking shop. And we gave him a program and A kick up the R’s. Somethings are meant to be. I’m aware many of you have asked for updates and probably contacted Dad. My brother Paul and I want to thank you all for your thoughts, best wishes and friendship over the years. This message board meant a lot to him, especially the last few years as he had a few health issues. Thanks again for the well wishes and support. Take care all. You R’S! | |

| Ted Hendrix / RIP on 21:39 - Oct 27 with 614 views | LeedsR | Such lovely and heartfelt words that must have been as painful as they were beautiful to write. Another who never met Ted but always appreciated the candour, ability to concisely cut through any argument, and take no cr@p, much in the way of the Oakland Raiders player of the 70s (I’m assuming that’s where he took his name from - please correct me if I’m wrong). There was no question of his love for Rangers and that came through so much in what he wrote. He will be missed. Condolences to his family and loved ones. RIP Ted. | | | |

| Ted Hendrix / RIP on 18:34 - Oct 27 by Northernr | God that's so sad, even though we'd been told it was coming. A man who's been on this site as long as this site existed. The man who named the bloody thing. Father of the house. Ted had an amazing ability to say in five words what takes most of the rest of us 500. He'd cut straight through the crap, tell you what he thought, and he was right. Can you ever remember Ted Hendrix being wrong, on any issue really? A real bellwether for opinions on here so goodness knows what a terrific man and influence this must have been to have as a father Dave, and Paul. I'm so sorry for you both. I loved hearing about the QPR of the past from him, and he saw (and saw through) so many of the chancers that came later. Watching him chasing Gareth Bale around the Lower Loft giving it the old 'fck off out of here'. The iconic photograph. Legend. RIP Ted and very best to Dave, Paul and the family. This will never be the same place again without him. |
Never met Ted or you Charlie but that picture of him and Bale has always stayed with me - just the greatest. Reflected exactly his no nonsense tone on here. And always loved the fact he helped build the Majedski Reading stadium and it made them hate that club forever RIP to one of the best voices on this forum | | | |

Like many I knew Ted through this site & he’s been a constant for the over 20yrs since I stumbled onto it 12000 miles from Loftus Rd. Loads of lovely comments & memories above and he’ll be missed | | | | Login to get fewer ads
| Ted Hendrix / RIP on 22:37 - Oct 27 with 366 views | CLAREMAN1995 | When your Father posted he had pancratic cancer I felt like someone kicked me in the stomach because I knew his time to travel onwards was near and its one of the worst ways sadly. Watched my own Father bite through his lips on his last night and I leaned over and whispered go to visit his wife our Mother who went to the Promised Land 18 months earlier and he left us a few hours later. Glad his suffering is over and he was surounded by a loving family its all we can hope for when the time comes. RIP . | | | |

| Ted Hendrix / RIP on 23:19 - Oct 27 with 228 views | Fearless | Hi Dave (Charlie) Not sure you’ll remember me, but we had a few drinks in the bush and one at Liverpool Street (may have been your birthday?) I met Ted many times and always enjoyed my chats with him, as others have said, pretty no nonsense kind of guy I’m sorry for your loss (words are pretty inadequate, sorry) But for what it’s worth I remember you both fondly Ian [Post edited 27 Oct 23:22]
