...and disrupting the Bulgarian National Anthem - actually, listening to the tone deaf Bulgarian team trying to sing along in a desultory, discordant way, they didn't do too bad a job themselves - it's a lousy anthem anyway.

Bulgaria charged with Nazi salutes, racism and disrupting the English anthem.

England charged with disrupting the Bulgarian anthem.

Bulgarian FA’s president has resigned under pressure from the Bulgarian PM.

I would imagine that any English fine would be minimal. Unfortunately the Bulgarian punishment might be too light as well.

Bulgaria were fined about 30k the last time England played there for racist chanting. The ground was partially closed for the game on Monday for racist chanting in the games against Montenegro AND Kosovo. UEFA had a chance to make a stand, so the blame lays squarely with UEFA.

And the Bulgarians didn't even sell out the parts of the ground that remained opened, so that wasn't an effective penalty, either.

I can't see it being much different this time either.

With so many other countries guilty of racism in the recent past and likely to be guilty of it again, do any of the member countries really want UEFA to set a precedent of, say, docking points?

It wasn't sold out because Bulgaria are pony. Worse team in the group. QPR under 23s would give them a good game.

I imagine that England will get a lifetime ban from all competitions for disrupting the Bulgarian anthem and Bulgaria will get our qualification place, automatic pass to the semi finals of the Euros and World Cup, £1bn compensation from the English public and free food for ten years for their part in this, paid for by QPR fans and a QPR points deduction. It is the UEFA way!

Never knowingly right.

It seems bonkers but actually it makes sense.

If England are guilty of any technical infringements, however minor and even if they would normally be overlooked, UEFA has to put them on the rap sheet to avoid the Bulgarian FA having any colour of an argument that they've been unfairly victimised and England have been shown preferential treatment.

Indeed, fair enough. Although I wasn't aware until now of the away fan stewarding policy.
