Wednesday in more trouble? 08:32 - Oct 13 with 2043 viewstoboboly

Loan secured against stadium that they no longer own, didn't see it mentioned but surely with what is going on this season and their points issue this is like putting everything on one horse?

Even higher stakes, if they go down they are finished surely? New rules should come in that you cannot leverage any load against team infrastructure.

They don't own the Stadium anymore, so it is the owner presumably who has taken the loan and secured it against the ground. If he fails to keep up with payments then, yes, Hilsborough may be lost, but that doesn't mean the end of the club.

They could share United's ground or Barnsley's or Rotherham's (as if!).

...but this is the high stakes involved in not owning your ground anymore. That is the gamble that the EFL's rules believe will not threaten the future of the club (which is what FFP intended to safeguard).

Unfortunately, football has chosen to be about business first and foremost and can't stop businesses from doing this type of thing, They could dissuade clubs by providing rules with sporting punishments (eg: points deductions), but I think that boat has long sailed with their abysmal management of FFP from start 'til now.

Can we go out yet?

It also mentions players weren't paid on time, although quickly resolved when that starts happening it generally turns into a very bad spiral.

EFL management asleep at the wheel again/still. It is plain stupid that selling your ground can contribute to your profit under FFP and this sort of thing is a direct result of that.

This is a very worrying development for the Wednesday fans. Even though it is not the club that has the debt, it is the club that might lose its home or end up with a shark as a landlord.

Strange how Wednesday constantly copy Derby to cook the books.

I think you might find that Mel Morris of Derby is also an EFL Director, not inferring anything, just saying like......

Poll: Remy - can he play in the playoffs - who's opening post is the best?
