Attended all the 80s Tournaments and particularily remember the 85 one especially beating Brentford in the first round with Ian Dawes scoring with a header
I went to Wembley Arena for this a couple of times in the 90s. Don't remember much about it other than Bardsley was the star man for us and I remember lots of loudmouth Spurs fans who arrogantly thought that all they needed to do was turn up and they'd automatically win it by being such a massive club.

Just looked this up and we won 5 times (more than anyone else) and lost in 2 finals. I went in 1976, the year we lost 6-1 to Orient in the final. Ouch!

Laurie Cunningham was the player of the tournament.
Early on in the competitions history the prizemoney was 3/4/5 hundred quid total for the team that competed, they often sharing the money with the rest of the squad. Those were the days clubs trained in the public bar.
