So they escaped the “wrath” of the EFL by getting promoted when the consensus was they’d done a QPR and would be punished if remaining in our Division
They look a very likely candidate to be in my northern treble for the drop.
Which is nice….
My question is - as soon as they walk into the EFL saloon bar are they to be slapped with a fine, points, embargo etc hanging over from their last sojourn or is that still exclusively reserved for clubs in blue and white hoops whose home is the general W12 locale?????

Was our problem that we got relegated too quickly, hence our huge promotion overspend was still within the three year cycle and automatically pushed us over the limit? Not sure.
Whether it was or not, I’d imagine if you stay up for 3 years, what went on previous is no longer an issue. Imagine if we’d stayed up another 14 years like previously, hard to imagine we’d get clobbered then.

any club going up has to spend to try and compete in the prem lge, we spent, but fulham spent £120m 2 seasons ago to come straight down? how much have forest spent to stay rock bottom? £150m?? the sums are vast fans wanted more balance and like var , it doesn't work, you should not need a slide rule, room full of lawyers, accountants and CSI to work out the rules. | | | |

I'm probably wrong on this and looked at the rules on the EFL site just now which has confused me even more but way I think it works is that the EFL one is done on a rolling 3 year basis so you can lose upto £13million per season so even if you lose 20 million first season and then get it down to 10 million the following year as long as you lose less than 9 million in year 3 you will be OK.
If Villa come down they will be subject to that, of course the way round it is outspend everyone in year one, piss the league and go back to the prem. Bournemouth pretty much did that and would have been bang in trouble if they hadn't gone up last season |  | | |

I would swop compete with survive as that’s what it’s all about for most promoted clubs.After a while it becomes a bore fest just looking over your shoulder hoping to steer clear of the bottom 3.The same top 6 clubs just juggle for position every season whilst the others just make up the numbers whereas the championship most clubs have every chance of making top 6.Spoke to a Burnley fan last week and he said most their fans are loving being in the championship. | | | |

I agree that’s why I don’t like the PL we finished 13 th last season and was seen by some as as success in actual fact it’s our lowest league finish in 20 years. | | | |
