Really quite shocked to hear she's died and that she was 87. What an actress and a good politician too. For me, ever since the film Women in Love, she just always seemed to be there. A sad day.

Was my MP back in the day. Met her very briefly after she retired. A nice person from what I hear, but a liberal’s idea of a socialist. Horrid offspring.
Overall very much a net positive in the world, which is what we should all strive for.

Some of those Ken Russell films (especially The Music Lovers) maybe haven’t aged well, but she left it all on the pitch, as they say. It might not send anyone rushing to watch them, but her ability to embody and depict restlessness, need, dissatisfaction and frustration was amazing, as in Sunday Bloody Sunday.
