How about an international break chat on sadly missed pubs ?
Some that've closed in West London were right dead-and-alive holes although there will be people that miss them.
I used to like the Clarence on the Bush roundabout ( known as the Magic Roundabout by cabbies ).
They had a swing guitar player a couple of nights a week and a West Indian steel band Sunday lunch.
Charrington IPA and sometimes Bass on handpump and decent malt whisky.
Sadly now some sort of hostel/hotel.

Saw Richard Branson a few times in The Duke of Clarence, think it was his local before he bought the Princess Victoria in the early / mid 80's and tried to change it from a QPR Pub to a Soho-House type media hostelry - did'nt end well that one. | | | |

We used to use the original one that Martin opened in West Ealing years before the Bush version. IIRC he sponsored our Sunday football team (a team which, at the peak of their powers, I’d actually back to get a result against the current slop wearing hoops…..myself as Manager of course)
I think most Bush pubs covered but I do really miss The Goldhawk for sentimental reasons allied to a few specific Saturday nights in there post QPR
The Ealing pubs gone and sadly missed:-
The Feathers / The Town House — now a Metro bank; brilliant gaff for a while
The Coach & Horses - still a bar but a monstrous thing, no character at all
The New Anchor - next door to the above and was another our team frequented
(The Coach & Horses, Anchor and Flannagans were often known as The Beermuda Triangle)
The Bell in Ealing Broadway had its moments especially that forecourt in the second most with a short stagger over to Le DoDo (The Don’tDon’t) or later The Priory
I really miss Bar SalSoul aka The Sausage Bar
Then the place of legend…..still there but called The Red Rooms…. Club Azur — what a place. It was everything you wanted and more.
Absolutely tragic the shrinkage of the hubs of socialising in London. What a shite place we are creating for future generations who, I know, do things differently to the teenage me but for the worse from what I can see |  |

The amazing selection drew a large, diverse crowd of drinkers, both locals and commuters. Anyway, it was knocked down in 2018 as part of the redevelopment of the area to make room for HS2 - and now that we learn that Euston will almost certainly not be the terminus for the new line an added irony is that it seems that the Bree, along with shops, houses and some fine Georgian buildings, were needlessly razed to the ground.
The pub was run for 15 years by Craig and Karen Douglas and such was their devotion to cask beer that they won a vast array of awards, including North London pub of the year as well as cider pub of the year (it originally called the Jolly Gardeners but Craig and Karen renamed it in memory of their daughter who died just 12 weeks after her birth).
Their policy was to offer an amazing range of cask beers, typically around 20 on handpumps and straight from casks stillaged behind the bar. Craig was a passionate supporter of small independent breweries and you would find the likes of Sambrooks, Redemption, Windsor & Eton and many more on offer. He said he wouldn’t give house room to the likes of DoomBar and as he was a former professional rugby player with Harlequins it was best not to argue with him - not that there were any grounds to disagree, especially as you could usually find a cask mild on tap. When the pub closed Craig and Karen lost not only their livelihood but the flat that served as their home - they were promised compensation but a) they didn't get a penny for two years and b) it ended up being nowhere near enough to start afresh somewhere else. No matter: the people in charge of HS2 pocket their salaries. No doubt a revamped Euston will house another giant BrewDog bar or whatever but a genuine community local has been lost. I love a pub with a big selection of Real Ale.
There's a pub in Twickenham Green called the Sussex Arms. It was an Ind Coope pub with no cask beer. Some guys took it over with the promise of a large range.
I went in on opening day to see a resplendant bar with 18 ales on handpump.
“What can I get you ?” Said the barkeep.
