My local non league club, who shall remain nameless less some of you start sending me dog shit by post, had a special supporters meeting last night.
Apart from scale, plenty of parallels with QPR circa 2015.
Wealthy(ish) owners in the property / construction game, bailing out the club and spending big on journeymen end up scratching their heads after relegation.
Fans furious, lots of online abuse, everyone feeling disconnected from the club.
Anyway, big meeting last night where the owners fronted up, told us they were investing in youth and were taking the club through a big period of wage reduction.
Came to the Q&A and everyone asking why the toilets are leaky and the beers are so expensive. [Post edited 30 Apr 15:08]

I was reading about a team in Kent, Hythe Town earlier and it sounds fairly familiar.
They went through 100 players and 4 managers this season and ended up with back to back relegation. A wealthy(ish) owner with no clue of how to run a football club.

My new local team are Harborough Town who have just won the Southern Premier Central at a canter to get promoted to the National League North for next season. They've rocketed up the leagues in recent years with fairly hefty investment, although with a proper local manager who's done the rounds at various amateur teams before moving to Harborough so he's done well in fairness.
Nice little setup they've got, although I've not managed to make it to a game yet. Bit hard really with family and QPR home attendance, maybe next year.
They do, somewhat randomly, have a Spanish fan club due to some guy on YouTube selecting them as his English team and the Spaniards go over for a few games every year. |  | | |

Not wishing to cast too many aspersions, but, a load of muchachos travel up from España, negotiating the hurdles of: securing match tickets, Ryanair's and Booking.com's websites, airport check-in and security, a cramped flight, border controls, onward travel to Harborough, hotel check-in, finding sustainence for a minimum two days (all at higher prices than in Spain), travel to/from the game, not in their mother tongue, only to repeat the journey back home to Spain after the game....and yet, despite all of the effort these niños go to, you can't manage to pop down the road to see the mighty Bees!!!
Stop arsing around and get yourself down to Bowden Park and cheer Mitch and his boys on. Vamos!!! |  |
