I was on a Baltimore ravens podcast a couple of weeks ago, And they asked me what the tradition is with regards to celery at a “soccer” match. I had to look it up/google it because I’ve never heard of it, I thought they were winding me up. Did anyone else see the Chelsea fans back in the day, throwing celery on the pitch? I had never heard of it. They asked me because back in early 2000s, a Chelsea fan went to Baltimore, to see a ravens game versus the Raiders, and he bought loads of celery from a Whole Foods and was throwing it at raiders fans at the tailgate, to The bemusement of people in Baltimore.. Nobody understood it, until he tried to explain himself. Very bizarre.

Agreed. I’m excited to see how Southgate finds a way to play neither him nor Foden to accommodate Mount and Rice.

No way he leaves out Grealish or Foden on their present form and barring any injuries Watford_Ranger IMO.

You are not still angry about Rice being captain of ROI and having tears in his eyes while belting out the National Anthem then kissing the crest when he scored now are you Myke .Seriously both should be playing for us but I felt Grealish used the FAI more trying to get to England .Old argument both born in England just a matter of who capped them first in a competitive game and MON fuc*ed that ball Hard to be-grudge him turning into some player right now.I wont deny enjoying watching him play for Villa he is a true team player and the sky appears to be the limit

Yes I am. But you are right and goodness knows we got enough players over the years through the 'granny' rule that were not good enough to play for England but did a decent job for us, Terry Mancini being one of the first. I just think how having both of those in our midfield would transform us and instead England are wondering how to accommodate one or both. C'est la vie. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I can't remember the year (late 80's at a guess) where David Seaman's penalty area was literally covered in hundreds of bits of celery when we played that lot

Not his agent but I would say he is a great player and does get fouled a lot .I am not in love with his antics sometimes but the man is the chief playmaker for his team plus he can bury the occasional beauty thats going to gets lots of hack jobs . He is lucky to be playing in todays protect the players era though back in the day he would be killed dead by now
