Luton fan in a coma exactly across the road where what looked like a passerby almost suffered a similar fate when knocked down by punch he didn't even see coming at Millwall game.
Why can't Lower Tier Away fans be let out onto Ellerslie Road first + escorted round to South Africa + lined up as they always used to be + then Upper Tier Away fans let out to join behind as they start escorting up the South Africa Road.
Above would give home fans 15 minutes needed to clear South Africa Road + get to White City before Away fans escorted to Wood Lane direct to mainline stations at Euston, Kings Cross etc.
Trying to escort 2000 plus Millwall, Birmingham or even Luton fans a mile plus through a high street with a large number of Muslim businesses is just asking for trouble.
And I don't buy that nonsense H+S line as the above is a far greater risk to the H+S of our fans + the local community that holding Away Fans back 15 minutes and letting out as above or as we did throughout 80s + 90s when trouble was more frequent.

No idea what the solution is, but I do know that it was obvious by the numbers of police that they knew something was going to go down, but obvious that they were just winging it on the day. If they have a plan, they can put closures in place in advance and let everyone know.
An additional problem may be the train network - how on earth can they police the overground and underground networks leaving SB and WC to get back to the mainline London stations?
Face it, if these idiots want to spoil for a rumble, they will find a way; just wish they'd go to a cage area and be done with it, leaving the civilised ones amongst us just to get to a game, watch it, then live our lives...
Hold backs are illegal now. No safety officer would ever authorise that. It’s to do with human rights etc such as false imprisonment and also god forbid major crushes etc. people are saying elsewhere it’s done at Millwall but if you look there it’s done in a separate area a walkway not a stand. I do believe there was a major communication cock up between police and club as usually they send the fans out via Ellerslie both tiers and tell us via the website and social media that roads will be closed etc. police seemed to be doing what they wanted on Friday. I don’t see why similar to your suggestion they don’t allow supporters upstairs to leave by both exits ( Ellerslie and SAR ) this way the amount of supporters will be split and reduce serious disorder. Same as the lower tier too. Surprising police are getting a lot of stick as they are the only borough in London that has 3 professional clubs in and they police footy every week.

But if hold backs are illegal, how is it ok to contain R’s fans in Loftus Rd for more than 25 minutes while Luton fans slowly move down Uxbridge Rd. Surely some fans must be held back at some stage and the more logical option is to contain the away fans and then escort them to a station.

They should just escort the away fans along South Africa Road past the Springbok to White City or Wood Lane tube

Hold backs aren't illegal.
Here's a video of Liverpool fans at Old Trafford when they were held back 3 weeks ago
QPR are worried about the potential damage to the away end fans will cause.

Yeh I thought I’d seen this the other week. The other problem with it would be you’d think a few would try and hop out of the Lower tier and out via the paddocks and Ellerslie exits.
First place to start is only giving these clubs the upper tier. Had their chance, behaved like cnts, only give us a limited allocation at theirs, so fck them. Then you’ve got less of them, all coming out of the same exit, and in an area that they can be held back for 15 mins.

They usually just draught in police serial units from other areas anyway. It would be pretty unfair for Area West officers to constantly get given shifts policing football matches compared with say officers from North West area who part from Wembley have no one to worry about other than the Wealdstone Raider. I noticed there was at least one whole TSG unit of 3 buses down there on Friday so obviously like people have said, they anticipated trouble. They don't normally get exclusively assigned to us for a match.

surely you can let away fans out onto street and held for a short while to allow home fans who wish to get to stations, cars etc to do so, police can then let fans along SAR and once there let them, under policing wander to the stations/coaches.

That’s it. It’s down to the club to implement this. Any club that have recent or historical trouble with us or elsewhere get the top tier with the first few rows and sides cordoned off. We all know who they are, and so should the club. If it costs Rangers, so be it. Also, if we start getting that treatment as away fans - again, so be it. It really isn’t worth it. I stopped going to aggy games years ago - the atmosphere is the complete opposite of what it should be. Millwall at home with police helicopters? Not for me.
Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

The thing is that such measures will significantly reduce the possibility of severe trouble at that match so the hatred hatred between 2 sets of supporters gets taken down a notch and the next fixture will be slightly less heated.
The club aren't responsible for idiots fighting in the street, of course, but because of their failings on Friday there is increased tension at the next match vs Luton and it is inevitable that 'scarfers' will get hurt.
