Willock and Johansen find QPR’s happy place — Report on 19:55 - Sep 15 with 3081 viewsQPR_Hibs

Thanks Clive.

I vaguely remember Beale saying in pre-season (or somebody else saying it about him) that full backs were the key to his preferred system. Back then we were looking at Niko and Ozzie in those positions.

It is noticable in the highlights how far forward Stefan is playing now - he was standing next to Willock as he scored the first goal.

"Remember to listen to me but look at her. Don't get it the wrong way round. That would be hideous."

It was the Rangers guy who’s written the book on him and Gerrard mate, in our Patreon interview. That book is out this week I believe. Might pick one up.

Fab report...thank you!!, but stingey (sp?) score for the ref, who got a lot more right for both sides than i've seen for a long time. Barely noticed him, which is how it should be.

"In Gary Rowett land, this counts as nuance. Like spitting on it and calling it foreplay."

Marvellous.

Laird did get an elbow to the face in fairness to him when he had that treatment although I did think he milked it more than a bit.

If you watch the full 90 mins on the offish they had several close ups of the Rowett rant, one for you to enjoy Clive, it was a full on meltdown

Yeah I noticed that about Johansen, in fact by standing there I think he helped create space for Willock to shoot!

I enjoyed reading that. Pall did have a touch of the Parker about him.

On a side note most of the Extras in Green Street are CGI apart from about 30ish 'Birmingham' fans and me

Snooty tosser in the wardrobe bit at West Ham told me I didn't look like a football fan then gave me a shiny blue mac.

Football fan? I looked like a wrong 'un in that thing.

Referee mark fair enough, it wasn't that difficult a match and no difficult key match Incidents to judge either.

Apologies if you're being ironic, but for final time, those throw ins are perfectly legal - you can have 90% of each foot on the pitch if you like as along as something of each foot is on the line.

Just to save heart rates, BPs and vocal chords of QPR fans everywhere!

From where we were he was nowhere near the line a couple of times, wandering about all over the place.

On TV, they looked fine to me, but I was more nervously looking at where the ball might go, obviously, but if NO part of a foot is touching the line, then you're right, but only that.

I still remember many years ago when we were sharing with Wasps, John Oster playing for Grimsby wandering onto the rugby line and throwing it in from there much to the delight of the Lower Loft.

That was hilarious, players from both sides were shouting and pointing and he shook his head and did it anyway.

Laird took the second against Hull off his toes and didn't he miscue just before Albert's winner at Watford? What a difference.

Either my football coaching on throw in around 1966 or 67 was incorrect or the law has been modified at some stage. It used to be both feet on the ground and behind the line and thrown from behind the head.

Most coaches don't know the law, so I'm going for that.

Laws have never specified behind the line as far as I'm aware.

I might be wrong, but I think they did when I first passed my ref's exam in the 70's. There has been many a change since then, most of which are assumed to have been law forever! Similar changes were that the ball had to be inside the line for goal kicks & corner kicks, touching not allowed.

I wouldn't know when they would have changed, but it was before my second exam in the mid 90's.

Yes Terryb, I did the refs course in the early 80's and I always believed it was behind the line.

Cheers Terry.

There is a resource where you can access all the old LOTG, one snowy Januray afternoon, I might have a look!

What you say about assumptions is undoubtedly true.

It works both ways, a few months ago, after some research I found that the offside law has never said just being offside is an offence, despite the way it was implemented up until about 20 years ago!
