| No word from the powers that be... 09:26 - Feb 17 with 1432 views | bosh67 | ... I always think it's a bit empty anyway when the board backs a manager under pressure but the silence after Tuesday has been deafening. I kind of half expected the token sentence about the board backing Critchley or saying that they believe it will come good, but in reality they have kind of hung Critchley out to dry on his own, apologising for the bad run. As I say not that it generally means much but I was surprised not to read or hear some kind of brief club statement about the bad run. Unless I missed something? | |

| No word from the powers that be... on 09:35 - Feb 17 with 1373 views | MedwayR | I don’t recall them publicly backing Warburton after that game (vs Cardiff?) where everyone thought he was done. Instead they backed him in the transfer window by signing Field, Johansen & Austin. Our owners, Hoos & Ferdinand don’t tend to give much away in these situations and seemingly try to get on with things and give the manager time, interesting that we didn’t do much in the transfer window mind, wonder who’s decision that was. | |

exactly this, no point sacking him now and putting Paul hall or someone else in charge for the weekend, let him do it if the inevitable happens you change it, if he produces a miracle you stick They should be lining someone up behind the scenes though ready to go in time for next weekend if they do pull the trigger

Jimmy Dunne does an interview and its all "Actions speak louder than words"; "Usual platitudes" etc etc etc Clive's theory wouldn't be the biggest surprise in the world if it happened though

It might be the Blackburn as the last chance saloon?

Mmm. The thought I had as well. You wouldn't want someone new in charge for this match.
| No word from the powers that be... on 09:47 - Feb 17 with 1284 views | QPunkR | If they say something publicly then it's just "the dreaded vote of confidence" - if they say nothing it's presumed they don't back him. Can't see the difference personally, they can't win either way (just like our team of no-hopers!) | |

Hmmmm, that sounds an awful lot like strategic planning though Clive, are you sure?

In that case we’ll probably beat Boro tomorrow!

Well it matches his appointment. It was all done the week before, but they let Paul Hall take the Burnley game on the chin, and then Critchley was announced straight after.

Many clubs do it. | | | |
| No word from the powers that be... on 09:56 - Feb 17 with 1211 views | stantheman10 | How often do you see any club make a statement about a poor run of form unless they come out with the dreaded backing of the manager? Why would our club be any different? If they aren't sacking or backing the manager what statement are they going to put out. They don't ever put statements out about current form so would they now? Some of you are always trying to create an agenda | | | |

Meh, I was being sarcastic... strategic?.. us?? But yes, this wouldn't surprise me at all. I just can't imagine who they would bring in, much less who would want it at this point? Do they employ some more of that strategic nouse to get a successful L1 manager to come in and give it a go, and if it fails and we go down, we have a very capable knowledgable L1 manager at the helm next season? or Do they go for it, and bring in a well known, well worn 'when the chips are down' Houdini type until the end of the season? or They stick with NC and hope he comes good?
| No word from the powers that be... on 10:20 - Feb 17 with 1089 views | gazza1 | Don't think that NC will be shown the door (yet).....he has barely been given a chance. Whilst I go against the trend, I thought we did not do too badly playing football against Sunderland, the players decision making was poor at times, we played some good stuff at times but lacked the killer instinct and some players were not good. Seny failed badly for the first, Chair should have equalised and contrary to firm belief - who knows what could/would have happened at 1 - 1 with good time left to get the winner. What do you expect the Board to say??? | | | |

Say we lose 2-0, would you agree with that approach? Putting you on the spot so only fair to say, personally I would have thought it madness a week ago, but now......put it this way, I wouldn't be gutted.

Hear what you say mate, but this IS elite level professional sport - stop sniggering at the back - most games could go a different way when its a league match, based on one or two incidents or "fine margins" in football cliche speak.
