... I always think it's a bit empty anyway when the board backs a manager under pressure but the silence after Tuesday has been deafening. I kind of half expected the token sentence about the board backing Critchley or saying that they believe it will come good, but in reality they have kind of hung Critchley out to dry on his own, apologising for the bad run.
As I say not that it generally means much but I was surprised not to read or hear some kind of brief club statement about the bad run. Unless I missed something? |  |

I don’t recall them publicly backing Warburton after that game (vs Cardiff?) where everyone thought he was done. Instead they backed him in the transfer window by signing Field, Johansen & Austin. Our owners, Hoos & Ferdinand don’t tend to give much away in these situations and seemingly try to get on with things and give the manager time, interesting that we didn’t do much in the transfer window mind, wonder who’s decision that was. |  |

How often do you see any club make a statement about a poor run of form unless they come out with the dreaded backing of the manager? Why would our club be any different? If they aren't sacking or backing the manager what statement are they going to put out.
They don't ever put statements out about current form so would they now?

But yes, this wouldn't surprise me at all.
I just can't imagine who they would bring in, much less who would want it at this point?
Do they employ some more of that strategic nouse to get a successful L1 manager to come in and give it a go, and if it fails and we go down, we have a very capable knowledgable L1 manager at the helm next season?
or
Do they go for it, and bring in a well known, well worn 'when the chips are down' Houdini type until the end of the season?

Don't think that NC will be shown the door (yet).....he has barely been given a chance.
Whilst I go against the trend, I thought we did not do too badly playing football against Sunderland, the players decision making was poor at times, we played some good stuff at times but lacked the killer instinct and some players were not good. Seny failed badly for the first, Chair should have equalised and contrary to firm belief - who knows what could/would have happened at 1 - 1 with good time left to get the winner.

Hear what you say mate, but this IS elite level professional sport - stop sniggering at the back - most games could go a different way when its a league match, based on one or two incidents or "fine margins" in football cliche speak. | | | |
