Rather nice to be able to call out his abysmal performance having won rather than it sounding like an excuse because we lost.
Right down there with the worst of the erstwhile Mr Styles. I'm assuming incompetent rather than anything more sinister because we did win, but he gave us absolutely nothing all afternoon, and was pretty close to the most effective performer for the other lot.

Yeah the last time we had him he was OK, but today he was back to his meddling ways. How that wasn't a foul on Mbengue when he was bringing it out nobody knows.
Also, the head injuries. OK, blow up if you see one and blow up immediately. But not when a player seems to go down after the incident and the game has gone on for seconds. |  | | |

There were a few occasions when he gave West Brom free kicks for soft fouls and then didn't give us free kicks for worse fouls.
After we went 2-0 up, it felt like we went about 15 mins without being awarded a free kick. Typical Ward really, no idea what's going on and no feel for the game. |  |

My dad is a former ref (got up to football league level as linesman but never did prem). This was the first year he hasn't had a season ticket for 15 years at QPR but he decided to go today for the first time this season.
Got halfway there before he saw Gavin Ward was the ref, thought about not bothering. That's how bad his reputation is at this point. |  | | |

Good to have survived the Gavin Ward ordeal. Of his many eccentricities the worst were booking RND for kicking the ball away when it was Dunne. Worst of all we had 5 mins 1st half injury time ( in which we scored- thanks for the fake head injuries WBA) yet only 7 in second half when we had the medical emergency that took 10 minutes on its own. I was expecting 10 maybe even 15 added minutes. And isn’t it a bit sick how they feign head injuries when their manager retired because of one ? [Post edited 7 Dec 14:52]

Second half he treated it as if fouls had been abolished and it turned into an exciting game of football.
To be fair, RND incident should never be given as a penalty, full backs dropping to the floor with nobody behind them is unacceptable and Smyth does what Smyth does and nine times out of ten, not a foul either. |  | | |

Maybe a player claiming a head injury should leave the pitch for 1 minute rather than the 30 seconds for a normal injury?That would sort out who was faking it. | | | |

One of the worse refereeing performances I've seen for a while, and in this league that is saying something.
Got to look at the opposition as well. Came with zero ambition and were sh×thousing from 10 minutes with head injuries, constant pulling of shirts. A competent referee would have sorted that.
Poor referee and a really poor opposition. Did like their striker though. | |

I have a lot of sympathy for refs on the head injury rules. They know 95% aren’t genuine but if a ref played on and a player went on to have something seriously wrong that wasn’t treated as quickly as possible they’d be in all sorts of bother. It’s entirely on the players.
Other time-wasting and the decade and more of Ward in general, absolutely clamp down on it and it’s cowardly when they consistently don’t - I’m still of the opinion most of them appreciate the chance for a little rest.

West Brom happy to play on while their guy is on the floor, as soon as we win the ball back off them we simply must stop immediately to check on the injury.
