Ok, i take it back, it's marvellous to have 15 foreign born players in their squad, nothing whatsoever wrong with that.

Indeed, looks like they're going about it the wrong way.

I'm glad people are trying to wake everybody up about the extreme peril we're in, but pissing everybody off isn't going to help. Let's face facts, the mutha fcukers who are destroying the planet in the name of greed don't travel on the tube.

They should start bumping off CEOs and politicians instead. Starting with that absolute cant in Brazil.

Refs deciding games again. Glad to know it isn't only QPR who get screwed by the refs on a regular basis.

Yeah, it's getting bloody ridiculous huh?

https://www.irishtimes.com/sport/rugby/international/rwc-over-20-per-cent-of-pla

Next world cup to be won by the UAE without one homegrown player. Perhaps Man City can start an international Rugby Team and win that as well?

It's another one of those issues which we all know is fundamentally wrong and yet nobody seems to care. What a sickener for the players who are pushed out of the squad for foreign signings.

Those Uruguay shorts...definitely a bit too short. I thought it was a gay porn video initially.

I think one has to have a grudging respect for a nation who'd actually deep fry a Mars bar. It's no wonder they tried to build a wall.

I'd need it explained, because that'd be the dumbest thing a manager could say.

I'm not at all surprised Clint and Joey got on very well.

I'd bet Joey would be a good team mate inside the locker room if you were actually there with them. It was all the off field ego and trying to portray himself as an intellectual when he was just an idiot that caused all of our...well, you know. That's why he was often Captain in multiple clubs, because half of him was perfectly suited for it. Just the other half of him a complete liability. I view Joey as similar to Clint Hill with an ego.

Can't, on the other hand, see Clint identifying with plenty of the other players around then. No wonder he looked at Joey as an ally.

It's essential to have Clive on to tell it how it is, lends some credibility to the analyses, whether on football or social issues.

Re Bobby Zamora though, Clive, i think yes you were right he was an awful purchase, but as a player who wasn't fit to play, he did his best for us and in fact did quite well really. I don't think we can blame the players we bought for being vastly overpaid and unsuitable. That's down to the management. So, ok, you're correct in your assessment of Bobby, but i'm happy to enjoy his efforts, he'd be welcome in the Forever Rs and no need to disparage him i'd suggest.

The difference with some of the other players at that time, of course, i.e. Bosingwa and those bastard Chileans, is they were all in theory, on paper, without hindsight, great acquisitions, who just fcuked us over completely and deliberately. If they're ever invited back, i'll be jumping the barriers to get at them...

Ps I liked Tommy Smith, he never did anything wrong, was a clever player, so i was deeply disappointed to hear him savaged. Thank God you stood up for him.

Pps Julio Caesar on the bench, ffs.

Worst thing about the NFL is seeing grown men doing those embarrassing synchronised celebrations when they score.

Shudders.

Used to have a bar in Covent Garden once. We put a sign on the door for the toilet saying 'bog'. Health and safety made us change it back to toilet.

Sub 2 hour marathon
at 01:36 13 Oct 2019

He still averaged over 13 miles per hour for (almost) two hours.

Go on the treadmill in the gym and set it at 13 mph, it's tantamount to sprinting. It is an incredible achievement, doping and pacemakers or otherwise for a human to move so fast for so long.

Also the Jamaicans

“When people ask me about Bolt, I say he could be the greatest athlete of all time. But for someone to run 10.03 one year and 9.69 the next, if you don’t question that in a sport that has the reputation it has right now, you’re a fool. Period.” Carl Lewis

Carl Lewis being of course, despite his indignant rage at Ben Johnson, another proven drug cheat.

Matchday Captain
at 12:04 11 Oct 2019

On the pitch, nobody really gives a toss who's captain, it doesn't matter. Everybody is equal, if there is a hierarchy, it'll favour generally favour the best players. Crap players obviously can't go around berating better players. It's really more of a figurehead for the fans. It's more about how alpha males you've got out there. You want some at least.

Certain players will naturally keep talking all game, whereas others, most, never say a word. It's in a person's nature i guess. The game is much easier when you are playing with as many 'leaders' as possible and the afternoon will seem to be a long one when you don't have any talking going on. It's just part of the psychological battle, trying to impose your teams will over the other team and intimidate them a little or encourage your own players to fight harder.

Personally, i always used to encourage everybody for the full 90 minutes, but i was surprised how many people were quiet as a mouse.

This.

And the fact they've done so well presumably not helping in that regard.

Apparently (how exactly this was ascertained i can't begin to imagine), he's the fifth strongest footballer in the world, whatever that even means, the word strongest being somewhat ambiguous i'd have thought. Not to mention impossible to verify.

Tommy Smith Forever R interview on offish

Not at Loftus Road there isn't.

There'll always be a few @@@@s around. They aren't really racists, they are just @@@@s who'd also no doubt hate you and i and gay people or anybody else they could think of to hate. That's just a tiny minority of nasty, bitter people. Every country will have people like that. If you think it's racism, you're mistaken.

In my 45 years, i've never known a racist person in Britain. Certainly not where i grew up in Cornwall.

Antti, the words 'had' and 'have' do not mean the same thing, that's just a misapprehension on your part of what you were reading.
