Worried for 44 mins that we would once again drop points to a poor West Ham side, and our bedwetters would be predicting relegation.

Second half bossed it, outplayed them, Forster had nothing to do. 2nd half rating 10. Important 3 points with International break next week.

Walking up the Barking Rd after game, their fans agreed, best team won

Made amends for the Tottenham game - and in complete contrast everyone battled away, competed and worked very hard - plus a lot of skill out there. That is what we are going to have to do. Was particularly impressed with Isla and Fer.
We played with energy and moved the ball quickly. Whilst Sunderland had a lot of possession in the second half they rarely threatened - and Green did his job when they did. A second goal would have calmed the nerves but I'll take the one nil. Was disappointed with the referee. Thought he never had a total grip on the game. Looks like we have some seriously good professionals at Prem level now - and they wanted it, important. I'm sure that we can only get better as the team comes together and plays more. Left the ground on a high and my optimism was back.

For the first twenty minutes Chelsea had no answer to our play and we could (and possibly should) have been 2 or 3 up at that stage. However, this is a side that will push for the title all the way and there is no disgrace in the result that we had. Another win next week and we can kick start another winning run. 9 points from 12, I'll take that

No disgrace losing to them, if only we could have put away those other 2 chances first half...

This is a team that will score goals in open play. corners and free kicks will add and if the referee wears specs we may get a penalty. We looked dangerous and I expect we will give the top teams a good game. Poor old Pardew, what a thankless task he has.

Southampton continue to improve under the guidance of the best Dutch manager in the Premier league.

So impressed , to finally see us attack and shoot instead of trying to pass a hundred times with no end result.Been supporting Saints since 1954 at the age of 10, I am really enjoying the Saints more and more, coyr.

Tempting to get very excited about this team right now, except for the fact that Newcastle really offered little resistance. So little, in fact, that Saints's defence hardly needed to turn up.
