The Tories Are Bonkers! 08:51 - Dec 12 with 41617 viewsBostonR

Have been in the US since the summer and arrived back this week and going to the game on Sat.

I have watched the carnage in the US political system, but that was evened-out in the mid-term elections. Watching the madness this morning, it looks like a Tory coup by the ERG and other right-wing nut-cases.

I am no Tory, but May has to see them off before they throw this country under the bus!

Being highly suspicious of anyone in Westminster a large part of me is thinking that this chaos has been engineered between Brussels and Westminster to make leaving nigh on impossible thus returning to the status quo as it’s the only viable option.

Ive still no idea whats best. Stay or leave. I really dont think things will be as bad as the remainers say but i also think things wasnt that bad to justify leaving. This is just turning into some sort of bitter divorce. There's going to be no winners here. Wars start for less. The uk is getting more and more divided. Its horrible to witness.
Ive got zero confidence in any political party. They're all a shambles. I wont be voting.

No winners = nail on head.

Nothing to do with it being a very complicated issue which is almost impossible to make more than 25% of voters happy.

I’ve seen leavers saying they want to remain in the single market whilst some remainers want tighter control on immigration.

The good news for you is the majority seem unhappy with the current situation so we can all be miserable together.

It makes sense but only if you completely ignore the possibility that Brexit more complicated than prominent leavers were making out.

If anybody wants to know how we got to this place try reading this from Sir Ivan Rogers, formerly the UK ambassador to the EU. Until he resigned because politicians couldn't accept diplomats talking truth to power.

Not wanting to be part of a "club" makes you enemies.

Then maybe those so-called "friends" are not the right sort of friends.

As far as I can see it's the EU that has been hostile about us leaving, they are the ones making all the threats.

What threats are they?

The most problems I see are the divides opening up in our own society

He states the obvious with brutal clarity. It can only be l'appel du vide which drives even the most slightly objective leaver.

Maybe if the remain camp backed the result then May would have had the upper hand in the negotiations instead of going into them trying to please both sides and ending up pleasing neither.

It’s always someone else’s fault. Unhappy with your life- blame the EU. Not getting the Brexit deal you wanted- blame Theresa May or better yet those who didn’t want any part of this mess in the first place.

Pointing the finger of blame seems to be a common theme amongst leave voters.
