Shoot magazine used to have a postbag where kids would write in proposing new LOTG. Bless them, they'd propose stuff like three teams playing each other at the same time on a triangular pitch with three goals (mind you, imagine beating Chelsea and Luton on the same day!). I never knew who to feel sorrier for; the kids or the poor journo who'd have to read them and reply in a serious tone.
So anyway, when football comes back you can introduce one new rule. What is it?
"The opposite of love, after all, is not hate, but indifference."
Any player caught feigning injury has to continue the rest of the game playing stark naked apart from wearing an ill-fitting bowler hat. (no boots, totally buff). Said player is also not permitted to be subbed or head the ball.
My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.
Bad news on the subs, IFAB have just said that competitions will be able to allow 5 subs until the end of 2020/21 - just to be clear up to each competition/league if they adopt this or not.
I would like to go back to the time that only a serious tackle was a yellow, when I started going to football you’d be lucky if one player got booked in a game.
No play-offs. it's utterly unfair. just 3 up 3 down.
All league games played 3 O'clock Saturdays, midweek 7.30 Tuesday/Wednesday.
Agree about no play-offs. A sprint should never decide a marathon. Also goal kicks from the side of the goal the ball went off. Current law allows time wasting.
Apart from the idea of giving a jetpack to one player on each team (which I still think is a runner), I 'd like to see an experiment where you have to leave one or maybe two players in the opposing half to stop Mourinhoball.
Pro: It would reward better passing teams as they exploit the spaces.
Cons: It might encourage long balls being hoofed up to the two attackers and it might need a tweak on the offside rule i.e. if the defence can play offside just inside their half then the two attackers would be offside automatically.
yes, only allow offside beyond the 18yd box on the defensive side
Worth considering for extra time, compulsory binoculars. Come on you SuperHoops!
Help bring back the magic of the Cup. Get rid of 11 v 11.

In early days of professional cricket I believe that quite often there were matches between XI top players vs larger amateur sides.
I genuinely think that Associate nations being groomed for Test status (e.g. Afghanistan) would benefit from being allowed to play a few one-off (non-Test) long-form matches vs Test teams (or eg the England Lions) with extra players - they'd have a better chance of posting a halfway competitive score for the bowlers to defend and they would get a more experienced pool of players.
Opening rounds of the World Cup could give Associate nations a couple of extra fielders vs the top sides
I’d like to see the klaxon rule implemented. At every game at an undesignated moment a klaxon sounds and then for five minutes the game is played under klaxon law in which there are no rules and anything is permitted, absolutely anything. The only rule is if anyone scores, the score is counted, and the other team has to kick off. But under klaxon law they wouldn’t have to wait for the other team to be ready and in their own half. The referee has to remain adjudicating just for goals and kick offs. The assistants are not needed and can have a quick cup of tea if they wish. When the klaxon blows a second time, the players revert to the normal rules of the game. At the end of the season the player who has scored the most goals during klaxon time is awarded the klaxon boot. A boot fashioned in the shape of a klaxon.
Okay, nobody else wants to say it but I will. It's the elephant in the room, the stating the bleedin' obvious, the game changer. Get rid of the offside rule, it's stupid!
There, I've said it. May I be struck down for blasphemy. Bring on the dissenters.
Sin Bins for dissent already in place in all grassroots football below a certain level. & laws also allow any competition to use them for all or some offences if they want to.

A sin bin would be great for Rooney and the like. They would get so much rest they could play until they're 50.

I didn't know that, have they been around for long ?
i know it does take a few seasons for some law changes to filter through to the top leagues.

So far, this is the only suggestion that has been passed by the LFW LOTG committee.
