thought the case had been closed, obviously not.

Friends of mine put the baby in his carrier on the roof of the car at IKEA while they loaded up. Then drove off home him with him still on the roof. Got about two miles before other people hooting and flashing made them realise.

I got left outside Woolworth’s in Portobello Road.
My Mum went in to quickly get something and left the pram outside, quite normal then.
Came out and went home (about 5-8 mins walk).
Put kettle on, made a cuppa then turned on Radio 4. Then suddenly, “Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!.........”

The thing is, even if this German guy admits the killing and even leads the authorities to a body, the conspiracy theorists (including some on here) will still claim something untoward about the McCanns.
I like to think the best of people but I am not naïve enough to know that human beings are capable of despicable things. And there is not much more despicable than what some are accusing the McCanns of.
If they were involved in some kind of sinister plot (paedo or otherwise) or even some terrible accident covered up, I think they would have slipped up by now given the immense scrutiny over the years.
I personally find some of the conspiracy stuff sickening. It’s bad enough to have that poor little girl’s face splashed all over the media again and I do not even have kids.
It is sadly the case that whatever the outcome, this has ruined the lives of the McCanns forever and possibly those of Maddie’s surviving siblings.

ONe of the problems with them from the Get Go was the first thing they seemingly did... contact Sky News and then Clarence Mitchell got involved, there's also been the huge amount of money involved from the start the "Maddie fighting Fund" etc etc.
No idea what truly happened but in many ways the McCanns didnt help themselves especially later on.
I agree though by now they're damned to some degree whatever and the trouble now with the Internet and CTs etc the spin will be he was somehow connected with them and CF or something of that sort...

Pukka! I went on a Mark Warner holiday in Greece years ago when my first kid was still a baby - it was expensive and the whole idea from what I could understand was you pay the premium for the childcare so the parents get a break. I wasn’t at all comfortable with it. Missus insisted we leave our girl in the room and go for a meal in the restaurant which was close by. I sat there for about 5 minutes but couldn’t relax at all and went back to my girl. It wasn’t for me at all....but that’s why people pay to go on those holidays. They ain’t cheap. My Dad was a panel beater in a garage opposite the Brondesbury Arms In Kilburn and his idea of babysitting was leaving me either on the bar in my carrier when I was a baby or with a load of random pissheads when I was a toddler for hours while he did some sort deal bringing or fetching dodgy goods from somewhere.
Used to make me laugh when he said ‘don’t talk to strangers’ because if anyone knows what that pub uses to be like before it was knocked down, there weren’t many stranger than the regulars in there.
On the Madeline McCann thing, who fcking knows but I refer to Ocams Razor and the adage that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
I’m with MrSheen in that accusing parents of murdering their toddler without definite proof is definitely our of order. I’ll also point out that a lot of the conspiracy theorists (like Icke) have made lots of money out of these dreadful accusations and should be taken with a pinch of salt. I’ll watch those YouTube documentaries but to be honest, there is so much pressure on the Met and Portuguese police, I’m sure the parents would have been charged at the slightest of hints. |

Many parents have left sleeping kids to eat/drink or party nearby. Supposedly, they were going back to check every so often (15-20 minutes comes to mind) and they were only 50m away. Because of what happened, they have to live with that decision for the rest of their lives.
I doubt if such a case would have been in the public domain for so long if the parents hadn't been successful middle-class people. In the interviews at the time, Kate was clearly destroyed by what happened.
