At the training ground, will there be a serious analysis of how those three goals were scored? Defensively, the players do have something to learn - not just those at the very back, but those in front of them as well.

Going to be a tough season with Saturday and midweek games. The squad is going to be tested. On the occasional midweek off do we want to be playing cup games. Many have questioned why this competition is being played. Is it unreasonable for the players and management to feel the same way. I would rather the squad fit and ready for league games.

Hey Essex how you doing , hope your keeping well ?

The problem is mate this was Plymouth who stuck 3 past us at ease , who are 2 divisions below us

All fine here thanks , hope you are too..

I know a loss is disappointing but its the same with the cups every year , with every manager . Play at 80% against a bunch of pro,s from any division and you will lose .

I agree, the Football League have hawked their competition around everyone from the milkman , through washing machine shops , credit card companies and now this lot .

The FA have messed around with the draw, matchdays , kick off times , the semi finals and ticket allocations .

They cant complain if Clubs take a pragmatic view of the fixture list.

Newport ( who finished 22 pts below Plymouth) beat Swansea who made the playoffs.

For a club with no ambition they had a pretty decent season .

Plymouth won promotion last year and have made many (maybe 8) new signings.

They played well today and their keeper was excellent.

We need a bit more streetwise/canny. When you play as we do, you need players in there to make the cheap/distruptive fouls. Look at Liverpool and City- they lead the premier league in the rankings for those kind of fouls. It rests with the midfielders if you're employing this system and I just wonder if Amos/Carroll/Ball/Cameron have the nous to do that

I think you are spot on here. Liverpool do this high press and push their centre backs into the oppo half. As soon as there is a break they just chop them down. Great team that they are, I do think it's somewhat unfair that they get this advantage from the high press, its cheating basically. But surely we could learn from it, if we are going to have the fullbacks up field and playing with a back two, the breaks need to be stopped at source. Rotate the tactical fouler, as soon as you lose possession, foul them

The problem is partly systemic and partly individual.
If the full backs continually charge forward, it is easy to play the ball in behind them. That either drags the CBs out or forces the DMs to cover. Compunded by the full backs taking too long to recover their defensive positions.

Judging by the reports Manning was asleep for 2 of the goals today. He's not really a full back but is doing a job. Unfortunately, he's only doing the attacking side of the job. Not the only 1 at fault but go analyse how many times we conceded when Manning lost his man. Kane is no defender either and neither of the CBs seem to attack balls into the box.

It isn't just the defence.......it is the team. We do not defend as a team very well, that is the reason we concede so many goals. And there have been too many individual mistakes.

A favourite of Roy Hodgson, that.
Not sure he's got a rope long enough to tether Ebs, though ;)

Bare bones.
