| Gaffer on today's draw 20:56 - Oct 24 with 3547 views | bosh67 | https://www.qpr.co.uk/videos/i Hard to really find much wrong with what Warbs said there. Interesting that he said we are trying to score a perfect goal and walk it in. Happy he said that because it shows that his instructions are - just f*cking stick it in the f*cking net. We are better at the back for sure so far bar two sloppy fouls on Wednesday. For me the fact that the back line is generally a bit less leaky is a positive. People seem to forget that up front we have Bonne and Dykes who firstly hadn't even trained together and will hopefully find a partnership plus it is two players stepping up a level rather than Wells and Hugill coming down a level. That will take time but I think they will both get there. Albert, as MW said hasn't played a huge amount of football. We have a back 4 (5 with Dieng) that apart from a handful of games has only Barbet as a regular from most of last season. We've lost Eze, lost Manning (let's not start that one again), lost Amos, haven't had Thomas fit yet and a new front 2, plus Willock is also very new. Chair is a bit off form so far, Carroll, possibly the only natural playmaker is injured, BOS isn't quite at 100%. We obviously need to unearth or find another playmaker when and as. Overall this team needs time to bed in and gel. It's a very different team to the one we had before the last 9 games of last season. 7 games, not a lot of points, not a lot of goals, not not a lot of goals against and a few clean sheets. Hopefully they can go and break a bit of a hoodoo at Barnsley and see what they can get. Obviously if they lose at Barnsley sack everyone! [Post edited 24 Oct 2020 20:59]

I think you’re missing my point. ‘16th’ has become a metaphor.

| Gaffer on today's draw on 09:24 - Oct 25 by nix | Yes this. And buy a player as good as Nahki Wells and Jordan Hughill for less money than clubs paid for them and on reasonable wages. Oh and young enough for a sell on value. But meanwhile we also need to shore up our defence, so buy a seasoned defender for peanuts who's going to be better than Grant Hall, is prepared to be on less cash, and also young enough to not got injured/be able to stay in the team for a few years. Oh and we must make sure that all the new players that come in have been playing regularly for their clubs, so that they're super-match fit and they also need to slot into the team as if they've all been playing together for years. Honestly, some of our fans just don't get the concept of building over time. Yes, we could do the Notts Forest/Reading/Derby go for broke supermarket sweep. But it's extremely unlikely that they'll all go up, they've all already sold their grounds to themselves so can't repeat that trick, so I can't see they won't be stuffed if they don't go up this season. This is a perfect season to rebuild. Wycombe are already preparing for next season in division one or they should be. Sheffield Wednesday will perform a miracle if they stay up, needing two more wins just to be on two points, 1.4 points on average to reach safety. We need 1.1. So chances are, we only have to be better than one other team. Yeah we want to be better than survival. But we've lost our best player and have another good player with an ACL injury. We need to do better but we often just need one decent match to get us out of the hole. |
That first paragraph just about sums up the challenge we face. The last 2 games have been frustrating as hell but MW is doing a tough job and we're going to have days when we underperform. And several of the players that we bring in for very little money in the hope that we can develop them won't work out (although it's too early to tell with the latest batch). At this point transfer window business looks really good to me (apart from the LB issue) but we'll see how the new players develop over the next few months. So ,yes, we can criticise where it's merited but we do have to bear in mind the constraints the club is working under.
| Gaffer on today's draw on 12:29 - Oct 25 with 1014 views | Myke | There are 'bigger' teams than us that due to constant mis-management are in a lower tier than us (Sunderland/Bolton and possibly Wednesday next season) Not to mention teams of a similar stature like Hull and Blackpool. One of the reasons Birmingham have appointed Kranka is for his safety as they try to keep their heads above water. He will boringly inch them to safety this season. The hierarchy there, recognise how crucial it is staying in this division, especially during covid. So do our top brass and while the current strategy is excruciatingly slow and painful, we cannot accuse Warburton of being boring last season. This season, I think he was hoping for something similar even without Eze, Wells, Hugill, Hall and Mannning (55 goals taken away), but with the long term injury to Amos derailing his 'high press' plans, he may well have decided to go for a more pragmatic 'safety first' option. We need to remember the massive pressure he is under ( and not in full physical health) to keep us afloat both financially and points wise. Losing the quality of players we have, might seem like a step backwards, but to me it emphasises the short -termism of loaning players. We now actually OWN strikers, in the long term this has to be a step in the right direction - and it is Eze's money that is making it possible | | | |

Exactly this. The ONLY team with a squad with a market value less than ours but above us is Luton and they've played Derby, Wycombe and Barnsley. Our current squad market value puts us at 19th in the Championship, so we're doing better than several teams whose market value is at least double ours. And I'm glad we haven't got Karanka as our manager. Warburton certainly doesn't set out to play like his teams. I think our team's a bit overly cautious atm. As soon as a couple of goals go in, hopefully against Barnsley, I think they'll look completely different.

Okey dokey, yes that's just me probably. I wonder if 21st would be treated as '16th'?

Tell your friend he won't be going anywhere soon, because he's a decent manager doing a tough job reasonably well and there isn't a single sensible reason to sack him and anyone who thinks there is is completely delusional, while of course completely entitled to their opinion and to express said (silly) opinion.

A one dimensional position soon gets wearing. If you truly believe our fortunes will change by getting rid of Warburton then you're badly mistaken. It would be more interesting to hear your reasons for believing this, too attacking/too defensive, not creative enough/too soft? Lots of improvements that can be made, what would yours be by getting a new man in?
| Gaffer on today's draw on 14:02 - Oct 25 with 894 views | BucksRanger | If we finish 18th this season we will have averaged 16th position for the last six seasons. Only one point above 18th right now. | | | |

| Gaffer on today's draw on 08:25 - Oct 25 by paulparker | The thing is will we get a tidy sum for selling on these players , I can’t see it To get top dollar for championship players you need to be in the top six , there are some exceptions Bowen at Hull , but by and large you need to be a side challenging Swansea, Brentford, Bristol City have all sold their brightest for big money by constantly being up there Being sixteenth year in year out does not get you massive transfer returns |
Last 5 seasons: Brentford 9, 10, 9, 11, 3 Bristol City 18, 17, 11, 8, 12 QPR 12, 18, 16, 19, 13 [Post edited 25 Oct 2020 14:19]

| Gaffer on today's draw on 15:06 - Oct 25 with 814 views | LazyFan | Yesterday Kakay and BOS changed their approach in the last 30 mins of the game. BOS stayed central and Kakay moved up the field to become the provider this got us into the box with the ball. From here we got some shots in. But was defo a change of tactics and I suspect by the players, not the manager. That was it though and it only happened around three times. Not good enough. At the other end the defence played just okay, it was Dieng who made two great saves. The one at point-blank that he flicked away with his arm was way better than the shot he saved from long distance. However Brum cleared one off the line so, a draw was a fair result. We cannot rely on the defence and keeper all game, Kakay was visibly knackered by the end. If we keep demanding this of him, he will get injured or fatigued then we shall have to play Kane. Hams was better than Wallace going forward, but Brum never really tested him. Barnsley will, they will go after him and see him as the weak link. So, there will be a sterner test soon for him. I hope he does it as it will mean we shall have saved having to buy a LB and the team will be improved going forwards. We are not creating chances so, our forwards do not get the opportunity to score. We need someone to create chances like Eze, Freeman and Wells did for us. Cameron is not going to do that and neither is Chair or LTC. If this continues which I think it will as I see no way to change it with the current squad, then I suspect we shall loan a playmaker from the prem on big bucks to ensure safety. And possibly even a 2nd loan, someone like Wells to partner Dykes. It might not be what we want, but we may have to do it to ensure survival. There was a reason Eze cost £20m and that Wells cost £5m despite being the wrong side of 30. | |

Strange reaction - you know full well that although 13th has strangely become 16th, 21st certainly wouldn't!

| Gaffer on today's draw on 20:00 - Oct 27 with 516 views | NorthantsHoop | It is starting to look a bit dismal even this early in the season, we are not able to score or in fact even get a shot away in those first 15 minutes of domination. Hope we can at least get one goal tonight, as another game without scoring heads will go down even more than just a defeat. Must make sure we don't get slaughtered 2nd half and try and get a goal. | | | |
