There is a WhatsApp photo of him doing the photo stuff after the match floating around. I don’t know how to share it on here but he looks trimmer than I’d imagined he would.
It’s not the ideal signing to be honest, but defo worth a go.

He'll do better that most think. He was the top scorer for WBA last season, even with fewer minutes. Regardless or not if he can still play in the PL, he is still a massive upgrade for us

Genuine question. Is he available for Tuesday or is he carrying an injury? We usually sign strikers like that.
He played 45 mins in their last game and he says he's trained all week so I would imagine he'll be involved. Wouldn't be surprised if he starts with Dykes
If he's fit and stays injury free it's a very good signing. He scored 18 goals (and missed two pens - still thing Remy should have taken the first one. Let it go Mike, let it go) In his last full season for us in an even crappier team (performance wise) than this one. If he can score a few goals, show our other strikers how it's done and have a good influence off the pitch then it's all good. I suppose it's a safe enough gamble from his point of view (presume WBA picking up most of the tab), and certainly, judging by the message board, has given us all a boost. It looks like the board are prepared to back Warburton with this signing too. I know we are giving out about the full -backs and the mid-field, but the stats tell us we are conceding less. We HAVE a better keeper, a better CB (another coming in, I presume Masterson will go on loan now) and a back 5 seems to suit Barbet better. If the new Dutch lad has a bit of pace, that will further improve things. As for the mid-field we were often getting over-run there last season too, just that we scored so many goals and looked so entertaining, nobody really minded. So in that regard, not much has changed and bringing in Charlie, is no different than bringing back Wells, or Hugill. If we can start scoring goals, then we just might be okay. They have shown in virtually every game that they are still playing for MW, so a few goals, a few wins and hopefully this dark winter will turn into an optimistic spring. As for what happens after that...

Wow. how beautiful if it works. A late Christmas present. Come on Charlie my boy! Best of British to you. I'm smiling from ear to ear. Pretty please, give us a bit of luck with this. Gutsy effort from the board, i'd dearly love this to pay off for us and Charlie. A desperate move to be sure but it's looking bloody desperate.
What a bloody tragedy the Rangers faithful won't be there to welcome him, he'd singlehandedly get that atmosphere right back, we'd be unstoppable. I hope having no fans isn't detrimental to his play, it might rob us of his biggest advantage, i.e. galvanising the support for a while.
Now get some effing crosses in the box...

Pinning our hopes on someone who since has left us has either been injured or fallen out with clubs. If we are expecting him to be our saviour this season then god help us.
It’s the bigger picture I’m annoyed with. How the hell have we let ourselves get to this state.
I was a believer of the bigger picture but now that picture looks like it’s being painted over with short term fixes
I don’t even blame MW. It’s the recruiting. I’m starting to have a right old hump with Les. I’m all for giving young people a go in a role they have never done before (DOF) but as long as they gain experience along the way. But I’m yet to see an improvement with him. It’s only when Penrice was here we looked like we could get a bargain
This signing is to short term please the fans. It’s a nostalgic signing which is wrong on so many levels. I’d of been happier with Murray even though he’s older if he’s been signed with the style of play in mind. It’s clowns work! Utterly ridiculous
I hope it works out but I fear if it does it will be down to luck rather than a recruiting plan.

As I said just above, it's no different than signing Wells or Hugill. Nothing wrong with a short term fix as long as the overall long term plan remains in place. We own 3 strikers, who, for whatever reason are not scoring. Clearly this needed to be addressed within our budget (ovs, just as with Wells and Hugill, parent club picking up most of the tab) If he can teach the other 3 what it takes to be in the right place at the right time, stay injury free and bag 5 or 6 himself, then it will be a worthwhile gamble

We didn't "let them go" though, did we? We only had them on loan, and other clubs paid way over the odds to sign them.
If you're going to criticise the club at least try and get the basic facts right.
Such hostility, sad to see. Criticising the club? Criticising the accountant who made that decision, perhaps. Lamenting it's potential effect on QPR.
They were both playing for us, both wanted to stay, neither stayed. We swapped them for Bonne and Dykes. Our owners are multi-billionaires and FFP seems to be bollox.
How much money will that save us? I don't know, nor do you. Hard to really judge these decisions either way without looking at the balance sheets. Impossible in fact. If we end up going down because of it, i'll consider it costly. though, irrespective of the finances. Cost / benefit analysis, hmmm what do we reckon, a few K a week saved to potentially relegate the club? Good value or not?
Now we've brought in Charlie. Again, let's have a look at the finances, then it's fairly self evident whether or not it was a poor decision. If Charlie's wages are significant, it proves the point beyond question. I'm just stating obvious facts here. LFW always love to shoot the messenger, down vote away, but it's beyond obvious, whether we like it or not. Let's just try to be realistic and honest.
Personally, i'm frustrated because it seems like a couple of times recently we've had a squad good enough to maybe get us up, only to obliterate it both times to save...very little i'd suggest. We all know we're financially struggling, but sometimes one has to speculate to accumulate. I'm not sure we've got the balance quite right yet.

Let's hope so. I can hardly think of anything sweeter than Charlie Austin riding to the rescue.
Could we sign Adel too ahem?
Yes lets get the band back together; the first match with a crowd of fans we should roll out there with Austin, Zamora, Hoilet, Taarabt, Phillips, and The Chief.

There is a world of difference between paying a portion of the wages of a player on loan (Wells, Hugill, Austin) and paying a ridiculous transfer fee plus full wages for those same players. I mean, Wells had six months left on his Burnley contract, and yet Bristol paid £5million for him and then his full wages. It was ludicrous. And Norwich paid a similar sum for Hugill.
But you didn't recognise any of that in your earlier post, it was just some lazy nonsense about us "letting them go" as if we'd had any real choice in the matter.

After watching Dykes miss against Fulham I am delighted we have an actual goalscorer back in the team It's been a while - first one since Charlie left us
Anyway to get us in the mood here are Charlie's goals from the first time around
Listening to his interview he is here to score goals and to help us avoid relegation

Also worth pointing out that Hugill scored his SECOND goal of the season yesterday, while Wells has FIVE this year in total, which combined is exactly the same as Dykes/Bonne together. So I think a fairly significant saving for the same return

Even playing on one leg he’d be a massive improvement over Dykes and Bonne. They have been total d o g s h i t... Welcome home Chazza! I really hope this ends well for him and us.
