It costs more to run a service on a weekend than it does during the week.

Making the weekend 3 days instead of 2 would represent the biggest cut to public services in decades.

What services cost more on weekend than a weekday that aren’t more expensive because of arbitrary reasons?

You've called me an unskilled footballer in the past, which was damn elitist of you.

Ah, but at least I called you a footballer, no-one ever mistook me for one!

What, so paying unsocial hours enhancements is now considered "arbitrary"

Nice of Boris & co to think that the way to overcome the truck driver shortage is to make the few remaining ones work even more hours.Another 5 hours driving for a weary workforce is just the tonic we need at the moment.Just when most industries are starting to realise that shorter hours are the way to make people more productive, the road haulage industry will think it’s ok to allow an hgv driver to work for 70 hours a week instead of 65.
Welcome to the new Victorian era.

There’s no herd immunity for tired truck drivers smashing into your car or the central reservation.

Good luck mate. Hope common sense prevails.

There will always be a sympathetic police office waiting for you after they’ve cleared up the wreckage of the crash you’ve caused because they work you too hard.Or is that a prison cell if you’re lucky enough to survive?
They obviously think it’s safe to drive for 11 hours a day in a potential killing machine on today’s overcrowded roads.
I would write to my MP but he’s a Tory who does 2 half jobs and probably gets 4-5 times what I earn,so he’ll probably tell to get another job.

I’ve been working a four day week for over a year and a half now, was the best thing I did. I work a condensed week, so five days in four, but it was basically the same hours I was doing anyway, the main difference I don’t now work a day for ‘free’ and I don’t work on Friday.

There’s the odd occasion when I have to work a bit later, but on the whole it’s worked really well. If you’re good at your job and you graft, but you can’t get your work done in a 35 hour week, you’ve probably got too much work on. I’ve spent years working unpaid hours, which probably comes to £1000s in unpaid wages - bosses get away with it because people don’t want to rock the boat, or seem to not be a team player. It’s tough and not a nice situation to be in. I’m lucky that I’ve been able to get it to work for me, but I understand it might not work for everyone (and god knows what happens if I move job and have to work a five day week again!)
